The Associated Press is reporting that Benoit strangled his wife, smothered his son, and hanged himself.

TMZ.com reported minutes ago: "Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths."

PWTorch.com has learned that one major media entity has received an email purporting to be from a friend of the Chris Benoit extended family saying that Benoit accidentally killed his wife in a domestic argument, then panicked and killed his son later so his son could be with his mother rather than grow up without a mom and knowing his father as a murderer.

I just saw this on CNN, but they only mentioned it as a murder suicide. Damn, those are some sad details.

Very sad. Though I do see why he killed his wife. I doubt she could explain in a legitimate way how she "accidentally" put a bag over Chris' son's head. Somehow, I'm more inclined to believe this story over the whole "he came home and killed everyone that was important to him because of the steriods he uses" bit.

Yah I heard about his death about the time Raw was Cancelled, although I havent watched wrestling in about more than a year I still knew who Benoit was and was a great technical wrestler. This story sounds more believable than him arguing and killing everyone. Because what I read yesterday is that Beniot had to go home for a family emergency and what Palma wrote sounds about right. But all that aside its a pretty darn sad story.

I've tried cross-referencing all of the different versions out there, but version of the story seems to be the one that keeps coming up.

Well, the kid was mildly short for his age. Chris probably figured that he wouldn't have a growth spurt, since 7 years old is way over the age that you stop growing.

The child actually had a form of dwarfism. He was also mentally retarded. Benoit was truly a horrible person.
