Looking at how that talent pool is growing in MMA over all. I think it would be wise for the UFC to add two more weight catergories. THsoe being Superheavy weight and Featherweight. W/ fighters like Ambriz, Pele, Bobish and Corriera and lets not forget the king of them all, Tom "Big Cat" Erickson in the co. UFC will grow. They better do it soon too, it'll only be so long before Pride jumps at the chance to have other mutants for Sapp to fight. Furthermore creating this catergory makes for talented guys that will appeal also to the barbaric side of things.Americans like big guys who can throw their weight around, the superheavies would do this but also use skills and slowly adjust the public.
The Featherweights would bring in tons of already established talent like Roque,Abe, Noguiera. Thesefighters are fast and exciting and to open up more connections w shooto will only build up the UFC. If UFC can capitalize on the smaller fighters in the world, especially those from Brazil and Japan they'll always stay stable financially. Then they can affor a few big name HW or MW or what not. In creating a trade w/ shooto UFC would definately prosper.
Which leads to my next point. Weight classesare made in boxing to make money. Same w/ MMA Zuffa will start seeing the cash when people begin tuning in to see high voltage fighters.
And my last point, w/ the skills these guys have, thy deserve to fight in big nam shows. But because the UFC has suchstrict weight classes tehy're usually barred from mving ahead. Making new weight classes gives more fighters the chance to succeed and develop our sport.
