wow good list
for me it would have to be a tie
Manny beaten MAB, and MAB beaten Naz
in both cases it was good super bantam weights moving up in weight to face highly regarded true featherweights
i mean in both cases there was suppose to be a huge difference in strenght
but in the fight it became obvious that the smaller guy may infact be the stronger
they gave the performance of a life time and i dont think they'll be able to duplicate those nights in such a convinving fashion

mic573 10-18-2004, 12:45 PM I still say Hopkins total dismantling of Tito was one of the best performances I have ever seen. He may have borrowed from Oscar's plan but he did it 10 times better. Other than that I'd say Marquez performance against Pacquiao and Barrera's undressing of Hamed. I knew Barrera would beat Hamed but I didn't know he would do it that easy.
oldgringo 10-18-2004, 12:52 PM I'm putting my vote in for Nard against Tito.
I thought Lamon Brewster put forth a great performance in taking all that punishment and TKO'ing Wladdy.
Glen Johnson KO'ing Roy.
jabsRstiff 10-18-2004, 01:14 PM Hopkins-Tito
Mayweather-Corrales
Tito-Vargas
Mosley-DeLaHoya I
Forrest-Mosley I
urdaddyinAZ 10-18-2004, 03:33 PM Lennox making Tyson look amateurish. I hate both of these guys, but Lennox made me respect him on that night. After 30 seconds into the fight......I was never thinking Tyson had a shot to beat him, even with the kind of power Tyson had. Lennox put on a great heavyweight performance that cemented his legacy.
mic573 10-18-2004, 03:42 PM Yeah Lewis beating Tyson down was a one of the best performances in the past 5 years.
How about Toney v. Jirov
both guys fought their ass off!
Toney took so much punisment to stay in there and land the can't miss counter left. Jirov's plan's was to bum rush for 12 and he did that. Toney's plan was to counter for 12 and he did that. Toney never tired the way many thought he would and slowly but surely gave Jirov who won many rounds the worst beating of his career. Amazing fight, amazing performance by both guys.
borikua 10-18-2004, 03:59 PM Hopkins-Tito
Mayweather-Corrales
Tito-Vargas
Mosley-DeLaHoya I
Forrest-Mosley I
Same here, I would add Barrera-NAZ
dempseyfire 10-18-2004, 05:29 PM Very good list by Infamouz. Can't really argue with that. Lewis vs Tyson??? A complete snoozer. Lewis potshotting and not taking any chances vs a shot sitting duck Tyson is not my idea of a great performance . . . .
The Fix 10-18-2004, 05:46 PM you forgot roy jones vs john ruiz. that was a great performance as was vitali (even though i dont like him)-lennox lewis.same goes for rahman- lewis
mic573 10-18-2004, 05:53 PM I think the Lewis/Rahman rematch would qualify. Lewis came in and dominated and knocked Rahman out after alot of people thought Rahman would beat Lewis again.
{BrownBomber} 10-18-2004, 06:34 PM Allthese Fights R Great, but I Have To With Marquez Getting Up Making That Fight Real Close. We All Know U Can Argue Either Way,and Whats Amazing Is That He Came Back From A 10-6 Round Not Many Of Those. Another Thing Is That He Got Hit By One Of The Hardest Left Hands In Boxing.
Pound4Pound1986 10-18-2004, 06:37 PM Jose Luis Castillo vs. Floyd Mayweather JR. I, i really believe he beat mayweather in that fight
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 10-18-2004, 08:00 PM uh..
Morales vs Barrera.
mr. bojangles 10-18-2004, 10:57 PM 1. Benard Hopkins against Felix Trinidad
2. Manny Pacquio against Marco Antonio Barrera
3. Glen Johnson against Roy Jones, Jr.
4. Floyd Mayweather against Diego Corrales
5. Shane Mosley against Oscar De La Hoya I
6. Hasim Rahman against Lennox Lewis I
7. Kawashima against Masomuri Takayuma
8. Marco Antonio Barrera against Nassem Hamed
9. Chris Byrd against David Tua
10.Vernon Forrest against Shane Mosley I
Good list i must say. I'd like to add Morales-Barrera and Jirov-Toney, entertaining fights, non-stop action!
THRILLAinmanila 10-18-2004, 10:58 PM Same here, I would add Barrera-NAZ
Unexpected wins:
Barerra-Hamed
Pacquiao-Barrera
Johnson-Jones Jr.
These fights should be in the "greatest upsets in history" list
oldgringo 10-18-2004, 11:22 PM Ah I thought this was greatest performance by 1 fighter...not by both. In that case I'd say Morales/MAB and Toney/Jirov have to be at the top of the list.
THRILLAinmanila 10-18-2004, 11:33 PM Good list i must say. I'd like to add Morales-Barrera and Jirov-Toney, entertaining fights, non-stop action!
My Thai friend, what's your take on JMM-Pac?
Was a good, though controversial fight too
JOM'S 10-19-2004, 02:32 AM INFAMOUZ List is one heck of a list, but I have should add Barerra-Morales I (good action from both fighters, and hands down fight of the year) and PacMan-Marquez fight (with the 3 KDs in the 1st I thought that the fight was over and was celebrating Pacs victory, but Marquez showed the heart of a champion and made this bout one very good fight, props to both fighters for giving us fight of the year type of fight).....
THRILLAinmanila 10-19-2004, 03:08 AM INFAMOUZ List is one heck of a list, but I have should add Barerra-Morales I (good action from both fighters, and hands down fight of the year) and PacMan-Marquez fight (with the 3 KDs in the 1st I thought that the fight was over and was celebrating Pacs victory, but Marquez showed the heart of a champion and made this bout one very good fight, props to both fighters for giving us fight of the year type of fight).....
Barrera-Morales II will surely also
be a knockout match. I hope Morales
wins so he can finally lock horns with Manny.
That is if Manny does not get overconfident
and beats St. Claire, then Marquez next Feb.
Dark Destroyer 10-19-2004, 06:12 AM There has been some amazing fights over the last 5 years and all the ones listed above have all been great. Lennox beating Mike rates high up in my opinion because most people thought that Mike was going nto beat Lennox bad and that it would be a brutal fight. It just goes to show that the makings of a great fight tend to happen when an overated fighter gets in with a underated good fighter. Barrera-Naseem was another that stands out because Nas was termed as invincible before that fight and was exposed in a way nobody knew was poissible. Tarver-Jones 2 will always stand out too because nobody expected a KO that fight.
