-edit- this was stupidly moved, thread ruined due to bad mod decision

I want you all to come into this thread unbiased whatsoever. I'm going to put to the rest all this crap you guys spew.

Many boxing fans that dislike MMA tend to use the same old "they don't know how to box" argument and it really gets old. They hate on MMA fighters because of this.

Let me explain something:

The majority of MMA fighters HAVE trained boxing before getting into MMA. The only exception are the ones that wrestled in college and then took up the other stuff. The MMA fighters that trained boxing normally took it up from 6 months to a year. Some only train boxing for 3-4 months before they got invited to do MMA. Yes, you get invited. MMA scouts will ask you if you'd like to train MMA. If you do, then you'll be transferred to an MMA academy/gym and they'll begin to train you on how to wrestle. You practice wrestling and boxing there and you'll practice BJJ, Judo or any other form of martial art depending on what they teach there, or they might send you somewhere.
When they trained boxing only yeah they were learning shoulder rolling, bobbing and weaving, etc but that doesn't work in MMA. All that stuff Floyd Mayweather does would not work in MMA.
You guys fail to understand this. You CANNOT focus on out boxing your opponent because you have to worry about getting kicked anywhere in the body and getting taking down. If you focus on one thing then you're gonna get caught with what you're ignoring. So instead of worrying about not getting punched, they focus on everything else involved in MMA. That's why they mostly ignore the punches. They can take a punch over a head kick or slam any day.
There's alot of technique and skill that is required in MMA. "Boxing only" fans are just so quick to judge without learning what MMA is all about and grasping how difficult it is. Like I've said time and time again, "boxing only" fans watch MMA fights with the intent to hate on any little thing they dislike. The hate, in my opinion, started when people said "boxing is dead" and that "MMA is taking over" so boxing only fans felt offended and wanted to defend their sport and so forth. I honestly made this thread to put to rest this mma vs. boxing crap so people can just enjoy the sports for what they are...entertainment.

Oh and let me explain why Chuck Liddell uses his style of striking, etc:

His left arm is to block/grab kicks to his left side and his right is used to counter punch/KO once it is blocked. SO STOP HATING, IT WORKS. Why would he use a closed in boxing stance? It'll leave him vulnerable.

I want logical counters. If you don't bring a logical counter then I assume you agree. Idiots not welcome.

Because "boxing only" fans are interested in boxing. They know what a good boxer can do and you just don't find that in MMA for the reasons you stated. That is why they are boxing fans. This is a stupid thread.

The reason I think MMA is a joke is because 95% of the time the most exciting part of it is the stand up. Boxing would be just as popular with those 4 oz. gloves because people would be getting knocked out left and right. Most people hate the ground game in MMA...

That's because they DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. Face it, you watch MMA fights and you ridicule how they box. I explained to you WHY they don't used closed in stances yet you STILL hate. You have to learn what MMA is to appreciate it. The same way you want people to learn and appreciate the "sweet science" and so forth you have to learn and appreciate MMA before criticising it.

This isn't a stupid thread. I explained myself very well with counters to every angle of hate towards MMA. Unlike you and alot of idiots here, I bring logic into my posts while posters here can't come with a rebuttal.

Yeah, but my thread brings something the other threads don't...and that is INTELLIGENCE. I would LOVE to read some counters people have for me. I assume in the end they'll resort back to their hating ways. I keep getting DODGED in other threads so I made one.

I will freely admit to having no interest in MMA - I don't whinge about it - in many ways the organisation of MMA is way superior to the sanctioning body mess in boxing, but I don't find MMA exciting to watch. Maybe if I devoted some time to it I would come to love it, but to be honest I won't be rushing, there are too many other sports to watch.

The thing these ridiculous MMA fans don't get is that boxing fans watch boxing because they like boxing. MMA does not provide real boxing. The sad thing about MMA is the only real excitement comes from the stand up. If boxers were wearing 4 oz. gloves, no one would watch MMA because you'd get nothing but KOs in boxing matches...

I love both MMA and Boxing, probably MMA a little more right now because its more exciting and the judges 99% of the time get a decision right. Id much rather see a MMA topic here than another ricky hatton or Floyd Mayweather topic, the same topics get posted everyday so why should this one matter?

And Sin you have no clue what you are talking about, MMA fans would love just as much to see a submission or possible arm seperation than a knockout, just depends on who your watching, Its just like boxing, they watch someone like roy jones , b hop or tyson for the knockouts , but they also like mayweather and malignaggi for being outstanding runners, so boxing is more than just boxing, its track and field as well

I guess you haven't learned much about the sweet science when you're constantly criticizing the purest boxer today, Floyd Mayweather. Stick to MMA...

Mayweather represents no part of the 'sweet science" unless of course if the sweet science means running scared and tryin to impress judges with flurries at the end of the round

Is this pertaining to the fight he had with DLH??

I love DLH, but I think Floyd whooped that ass fair and square!

I agree with the first post in this thread as long as it is limited to Pride Fighting Championship. The striking in the UFC is pathetic, ugly and untrained and there is no technical excuse for it.

I think this is a fair question:

First off, though I am strictly a boxing fan I respect MMA fighters and the skills they have. I wrestled in high school so I know how hard it is to grapple on the ground. There are a lot of skills involved and I appreciate that.

But having said that as a boxing fan what is entertaining to me is the boxing aspect of the MMA match. Once it goes to grappling I lose interest. So I would say while an MMA fan could appreciate all the aspects of the match, a pure boxing fan is focused only on the boxing aspect the match. And since MMA fights often transitions into grappling fairly quickly I think that is where a lot of boxing fans loses interest in the match.

But again, to say that there are no skills involved is false. I respect the skills an MMA fighter has. But other than the boxing aspect, it loses my interest.

Side note: I think there are enough fans for each and I wish MMA well. I will also give it another chance from time to time because I don’t believe anyone should be closed-minded to anything.

Thats a false.

I've been around boxing my whole life, I totally appreciate the ground game because I understand whats going on. People who boo and hate on the ground aspect of MMA is retarded and don't grasp how extremely tough it is and the nuances that take place between 2 elite ground fighters.
