“It just shows it’s my belt”, says Jens Pulver who was also in attendance at the press conference. “I definitely think I need to come back and do something after the fight I had with Ludwig. I got caught but again it’s a different show. I lost to Din outside the UFC and came back into the UFC and went back to dominate the way I do. I think when they’re done punishing me for my lack of loyalty and they decide ‘let’s get Jens back in there’, let me fight for that belt, let me clear out the weight class, let me get back to fighting the way I wanted to…like I said before there were some decisions we made before and it’s all come full circle, I think it’s been rectified. If they would just realize that I’m the man for the job and I realize this is the show for me I think we should be able to come together and I can go back to dominating and defending my belt. That’s exactly what it is.”

Make it happen Zuffa

Hughes moves up, beats Busta, Lawler wins Hughes old belt, then they'd have em all. Oops, except Titos, Jeremy Horn to the rescue.

horn couldn't take tito. he's not aggresive enough.

i think hughes could take busta for the belt, but could lawler take newton?

I really think ur pushing it when u say Hughes could be Bustamante. Busta's on a whole different level from Newton, especially on the ground, but standing too. Busta would have little trouble putting Hughes away. I actually think Hughes woul d better against Shamrock and Sakuraba and the oter wrestlers. He's definately a solid guy and fairly well versed, but Busta is too much. I think Horn would be pounded down by Tito. Tito has too mcuh in his arsenal. Yes Horn would probably take it to a decison, but Tito's still too aggressive and skilled on the gound for Horn to get a sub.

In getting to the original point of the thread, Jens is quite disputably the top LW. A very boring, but intriuging weight catergory. The boys here areskilled out the wazoo some are almost completely one dimensional. I think Penn and Pulver are neck and neckin their weight class. Serra and Gomi are definatley considerable and Ludwig is soon to be, but htese guys are the top. They need another match. Preferably after Pulver goes to Pride to fight Gomi and UFC needs to tryand set up Penn and Ludwig(ishful thinking i know). I think then we'd know who really is top dog in the LW division.

I would think UFC 42 would be a perfect time for ZUFFA to bring Jens back. Have him fight Din Thomas (FLA) as a revenge match, then have the winner fight Genki Sudo for the title in UFC 44

I agree with Thanos. But UFC42 is only about 6 weeks away, so they'd have to get Jens signed, and Din just fought, rarely do guys fight in back to back UFC's.

Sudo isn't champ material yet. His name keeps getting brought up for the title but he hasn't fought any top lightweights.
He just lost in K-1 to Masato.Ludwig or Vazquez would be great in the UFCs lightweight division.
