Alright kirkpatrick I'll bite:
Didn't he say the same thing about making an announcement in early '06. He should have came back straight after his fight with Hatton if he was ever going to fight again. It's been two years since he fought. If he does fight it should be against a B-C level fighter, because I can't see him beating any of the Prime fighters anymore. But, he won't because he'll fight for a big pay day only, which he stated in the media.
I've watched his fights from his prime and watched the Hatton fight straight after, he looked very slow. He might be able to beat Gatti now or someone like that.
Mayweather or Chavez Jnr would fight him for revenge.
There's always Lovemore.
mgkirkpatrick 06-21-2007, 03:05 AM yeah im pretty sure he was talking about announcing his decision this year and everyone was wating for it for a while then just forgot.. still nothing. i read somewhere he has been putting more time then usual in at the gym but who knows. for a while there i was behind him having a big one-off comeback fight to go out a champion.. but the longer he leaves it the more im against it. gatti would be a good send off.. would certainly be billed as a fight taht came a decade late.. everyone wanted them to fight when they were coming up but gatti was at HBO and kostya was at showtime
woftam 06-21-2007, 07:31 AM Nah I don't think he'll fight again and he'd be mad to consider it.
Just retire - His career has been fantastic. leave it at that.
kayjay 06-21-2007, 08:00 AM cunt...........
brently1979 06-24-2007, 09:19 AM Why didn't he chase a rematch with Hatton?
jack_the_rippuh 06-24-2007, 09:23 AM Because he doesn't rematch people who beat him up.
He only rematches people he beats (Sharmba Mitchell).
mgkirkpatrick 06-24-2007, 11:18 AM and he didnt want to fight hatton in the first place. his manager agreed to it without telling kostya because he was in financial trouble. kostya found out he was fighting hatton from the media
jack i didnt pick you for a tszyu hater.
never trust a .....

Kostya or his Manager was in financial trouble?
woftam 06-24-2007, 07:23 PM cunt...........
What sort of comment is that? Get some class.
macman 06-24-2007, 08:14 PM A little late for a comeabck, except for exhibition style matchups.
Gatti would be perfect, & draw a massive audience.
brently1979 06-24-2007, 09:06 PM Exhibition matches remind me of Rocky IV.
mgkirkpatrick 06-24-2007, 09:07 PM Kostya or his Manager was in financial trouble?
his manager apparently. i forget all the details.. but im pretty sure the records show they split pretty soon after.
i mean why would kostya really agree to fight ricky.. in england.. needing surgery on his shoulder.. at that time in his career..
gatti v kostya would be the one :fing02:

Well the Hatton Fight was the biggest pay day for him. Gatti's promoter Main Events saw Gatti as the draw, which was true in the States and weren't will to pay Tszyu what he wanted.
Gatti by UD if he boxed.
mgkirkpatrick 06-24-2007, 09:29 PM Gatti by UD if he boxed.
take that back..
or do you mean as of now? not back in the day?
brently1979 06-24-2007, 09:41 PM take that back..

No way. That's another reason why that fight never happened. Gatti could out box Kostya. Sure if he got tagged repeatedly would have been a different story. Let's not forget Gatti's freakish ability to take abnormal amounts of punishment.
infestacide 06-25-2007, 01:20 AM u can't forget kostya's abnormal power..

Gatti WOULD NOT outbox kostya. alot of people look at kostya as this rugged brawler but they've all forgotten the skill that went with it.
he beat vernon forrest 32-9 in the amateurs! he lost like 5 fights in 130 amateur bouts.. kostya was a GREAT boxer. he would have been world champ with malignaggi's power.
you have to tell me why you think gatti could outbox kostya.
Addison 06-25-2007, 04:30 AM It's been truly hard for Kostya to make this descison.
He's got JL in his ear telling him to stop, he's got the Crew always talking about how he's done enough and he's already the greatest..
Kostya is trying to make a call on this with opposition coming from everyone in his life and world..
I forgive him.
But I don't forgive them.
JL has been utterly melodramatic about this all if you ask me..

woftam 06-25-2007, 05:51 AM you haven't grown up since your last post here I see.

you raise alot of good points. lewis seems to be losing it in his old age. predicting every man and his dog will be world champion and making sensationalist claims every other minute.

Well stated, MGK. :beerchug:
He's driven us to the point of having to mention it..
I'm right with ya.

OK little boy, I'll explain. MG was purposely being a cunt and I called him that in some good-natured ribbing. It had nothing to do with you.
CUNT

Little boy? I'm 43 - how bout you? You act like a 12 year old.

Gatti is a more versatile fighter than Kostya. He can brawl, box side to side jab and take a punch and give a hard punch too.
Even Fenech said this would be a hard fight for Kostya back in 2003.
Tszyu has never really liked fighters that move side to side or don't stand there in front of him.
I think Tszyu is great don't get me wrong.
macman 06-30-2007, 09:37 AM Gatti has always been a complete sucker for the right, & even a comebacking Tszyu way past his prime would have a deadly right.
Also think Tszyu has (or had) the much better skills
- tried to blast everyone out for the first part of his pro career, but showed that he still had the great skills he showed as an amateur later in his career when he needed them.
