Who's been knocked down sparring or in a fight? Not slipping but from a legit punch? I haven't yet but I felt like I wasn't far from it in one session and it was a weird feeling. It made me wonder how it feels to get knocked down. It seems some people get energy from it but most are a bit wobbly and nervous afterwards. Anyone have experience with this?

Definitely man, I've been trying to get you to come check out this new place.

But yeah, I got worked over a week or two ago. In my defense I got thrown off a bit because a fake tooth I have came out and was stuck in my mouthguard so it wouldnt fit right... and I kept getting hit while i was trying to fix it... which cut my lip up pretty bad because the tooth had been stuck on a little metal peice... so anyway, I was a bloody mess by round 2 and we did at least five (i thought it was six or seven...lol) 3 minute rounds. The guy hit hard too and was real aggressive like he was trying to knock me out which I wasn't really used to or expecting. I should have been though so I figure it was a good experience. I know I'll do better next time, except I still need to figure out what to do about my tooth. I'm looking forward to getting a little redemption though.

What's the name of the place again? I live in Alexandria so going out there is a pretty long hike ecspecially in rush hour traffic... I might start going to this gym in Annandale... The one where they had those amatuer bouts the other weekend...

whenever i get knocked down i usually see purple dots and a quick bright light and then i'm on the canvas. very uneasing feeling, but nothing like it!

What place is that? I thought the bouts were at some sports complex in springfield. the gym i'm at is called the inferno i think. you can find it if you google 'team ruthless manassas'. It probably would take awhile for you to get out there... although if you can stay off the big roads it might not be too bad. classes are at 7:30 too which makes it a little easier and they also have one at 9 on saturday mornings

I have been dropped to my hands and knees from hits to the solar plexus and the liver (southpaw; that left hook to the liver is a real *****), but I have yet to be laid out.

Touch wood. . . .

OT but if I ever get in a scrap outside the ring, I am SO going to the body. I don't think very many people realize how painful a good hit to the body is.

word. body all day...:boxing:

i sparred for the third time the other day with another guy at my gym who is relatively new and also only sparred a few times. he came out all crazy and wild and hit me good and cuffed me behind the head a couple times in the first... i stay stayed basic and threw a lot of jabs and the occasional glancing right and worked him to the body on the ropes cause i noticed he didnt want to engage but just look for a single shot... so id pop him 1-2 to the body and just get out and start jabbin

halfway through the 2nd he started to tire and he kept covering up and i kept hitting him with left hook right straight in the body probably 5 straight times in the 2nd minute... finally he just took a knee right around the 30 second buzzer.. he didnt want to fight back i guess i coulda murdered him at that point if it was a real fight....

but yeah damn, he hit me with 3 or 4 big head shots and i didnt land any of my own with any real significance.. but he couldnt have fought another minute, he was done for the day after 2 rounds.
