Sure his jokes were bigotted, but they were just jokes. I like Bernard Manning, i think he's funny and when watching his shows on video or tv etc - his comic timing is the best. In the same vain, i enjoy watching Richard Pryor, Dave Chappele and Eddie Murphey... who also do racial themed jokes. People should learn how to relax more. i saw the documentary, i agree. They stitched him up. If i was Chubby i'd have been really upset by the reporters, especially after allowing those reporters to follow him round.

To use an extreme example, Hitler should have been allowed to say whatever he wanted, stir up whatever hatred he wanted, as long as people agreed with him. Right?

Yeah, i know what you meant by using the Hitler metaphor. I think i mistakingly came across as if i was taking you literally - but the point i was trying to make was that Manning and chubby brown do tell racist, sexist, homophobic and taboo jokes - but i wouldn't count it as inciting hatred. I don't think (although i can't prove) Manning ever made a joke which led to anyone becoming hurt - AND i am certain that Manning would never tell a joke, anacdote or story with the intention of causing harm upon a minority group etc.

Sure he was rude and like you said abhorrent - but thats almost the draw to his shows - i think the fact that Chubby Brown acts like such a rotten cunt on stage is proberbly the reason alot of people go see him.
