View Full Version : does it give you the shits...
mgkirkpatrick 06-17-2007, 05:52 AM how the only time boxing gets coverage in australia is if a footballer is turning pro or someone is offering a footballer money to?
i mean shit, poor old sakio bika and lovemore ndou fighting in eliminators and world title fights are lucky to get a paragraph meanwhile barry hall gets pages on the possibility of him fighting bums like hoppa.
something must be done. have a bitch with me people.
bloogertag 06-17-2007, 07:07 AM Im with you all the way here. There are 3 types of aussie boxers I like to watch. Those who are the champs, or fighting at a top level. (mundine, green, briggs, Darchinyan), those who may reach the top level 1 day(katsidis, oganov, bika), and those who are still in their early days of boxing. My problem here is, that If I want to watch someone from the 1st group fight, I gotta pay 50 bucks on top of my foxtel bill. The guys in the second group are never televised (katsidis kinda belongs in the 1st group being a champ, but he still gets fuck all air time), and the third group of boxers are mostly on fox sports, but not always. So, yeah, it pisses me off.

so true. pretty pathetic that the only way you can watch internationals and aussies doing things internationally is to go on fucking youtube or get a stream off the internet... i tell you what it's hard to be a boxing fan in australia.
infestacide 06-17-2007, 11:06 AM im with you there fellas. if i couldnt stream fights like ndou's today, i would miss out completely and i think its a joke. The numbers they get at live events prooves the popularity of the sport so i hope the networks would get behind them some more.
brently1979 06-17-2007, 07:19 PM Yes it does.
I lived in Melbourne for six months for work and the bars don't show fights.
I thought at one point I was going to have to fly to Sydney to watch Pac Morales III until I found one bar showing it.
It's a real problem in Australia, the Nodu fight should have been on Fox Sports. A fight like that should be on Cable. Not to mention the Hatton Castillo fight being PPV in Australia next weekend. All the HBO & Showtime fights should be on Foxsports/Foxtel either live or a short delay. At least Sky Channel try and cover as many fights as they can, even though their coverage with Mathew Brooks is depressing.
I look forward to the day I no longer have to bare this burden and HBO fights are shown in home live.
Obi-Wan Kenobi 06-17-2007, 07:20 PM but r dere n e good boxers in austria

That's not what we're talking about, the lack of coverage of International fights and yes when Australian fighters such as Nodu fight in the states on HBO or what ever network, unless it's on a massive card, we don't get to see it.
The Austria thing is wearing a little thin.

Main Event is a joke with what they call PPV fights.
But ringside tickets for that card are $750.00 for a shit house card.
Ringside Tickets for El Terrible's next fight are only
$300.00 US with a good Card.
mgkirkpatrick 06-18-2007, 12:20 AM

Sounds Good.
fucking amen brother, Im so sick of waiting to hear about the big fight on the news and having to watch the results from everything from Surfing to egg and spoon race before they mention the fight at all
how the fuck did surfing become more popular than Boxing????
and ive NEVER heard any mention of our top kickboxers from JWP to even Sting
apart from that though Australia >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ALL
brently1979 07-26-2007, 09:45 PM It is pretty sad. At least we can see some prospects on ESPN, which I've found pretty good. But, I would pay top dollar for HBO. At least SKY in the UK gets all the fights live or on delay. It pains me that my friends in California have HBO and don't even watch the fights.

Yeah Bro, do so. I've watched some pretty good cards of late. Plus the Classic's are always good to watch when they air them.
