View Full Version : Sam Soliman Vs Arthur Abraham
Strong rumour going around this will take place in mid/late august in where else but Germany for Mr AA's title.
Imo Sam would have to knock him out to win this fight...if it goes to the cards...AA definately wins.
Your thoughts on how this will play out?
mgkirkpatrick 06-12-2007, 11:10 PM i hope sam is gettin good money for this. imo its going to be hard for him to win.. his style of fighting is reliant on the judges deeming his accumulation of punches to be worth something. i dont think he's going to find too much support from the point scorers in germany and i doubt he'll have the power to stop abraham..
abraham UD tho i hope not..
Im sure hes getting a decent purse.
We both know that sam wont knock him out.
And to win over there thats what u virtually have to do.
But, its a shot in his weight division and thats all u can ask for i guess.
mgkirkpatrick 06-13-2007, 02:29 PM yeah its not like sam soliman is going to knock back the shot he's been chasing for years over the chance the judges will be crap. he's a fighter. some others could take notes.
brently1979 06-24-2007, 09:22 AM Sam has had a great career since he was a part time fighter, but It's the night he called it a day. Sam's a great guy, great for the sport because of his nature, but he's not a World Champion type of fighter.
mgkirkpatrick 06-24-2007, 11:19 AM i agree that he's more of a gate keeper than an elite fighter but if ndou got a title than sam deserves one too!
macman 06-24-2007, 08:23 PM Personally think Soliman is a damn good fighter, & paper title capable.
One problem is he's generally avoided, because he's so damn awkward. May well of already had a belt by now if he got the shots he'd earned.
Another is he's a pretty small for a middleweight. With his swarming style, that little bit of extra weight would really count if he had it, & always wondered why Soliman never tried for a Junior-Middle shot.
RE: matchup - think Arthur's one of the best Middle's out there, & this should be a good match. Arthur's not the busiest fighter around, & Soliman could outwork him, but Arthur's a very precise puncher with a lot of power, & could get Soliman in big trouble.
Don't think the long lay-offs between fights are going to help Soliman's cause much.

great post all round :beerchug: sam seems to get a pretty rough run with his 'opportunities', winky mundine and abraham..

I'm sorry but with those wash woman style punches he throws and looking like he's about to fall over all the time as he did against Winky. He is an awkward fighter, yes and is a testing ground for his opponents accuracy but far from a Good Fighter, he's a goer and has a bit of fun with the sport, boxing started as a part time thing for Sam but his career took off after he was robbed against Mundine first time around.
another rumour going around is 'the contender'. maybe we could see soliman in this.
IMO it would be a bad move for him.
Dont know what u guys think but i think it would tarnish his name going on a reality boxing show!
Bad move sammy...dont do it!
mgkirkpatrick 06-26-2007, 05:31 AM i imagined soliman would take himself a little too seriously for the contender..
alot of aussie names are being thrown around.. be good to have one in there to cheer for.
