Or know how to help, I was hitting the heavy bag bout 5 days ago with a tennis ball under my chin for 3 heavy rounds. Toward the end i felt my neck and upper back tighten up a little. Being an idiot i kept pushing and went 6 or so rounds on the speed bag. The last round i shot a hard uppercut to stop the bag to finish and i felt a small pop or shock in the area where the neck meets the back meets the shoulder blades. In the dead center of upper back on the spine. I took a few days off with tightness in neck and back and little difficulty sleeping. Being a dumbass i went back to gym sat. morning to hit mitts with my trainer. Felt my shit tightening and tightening until a hard cross into the glove make my back tightening up and crunch something FIERCE. I thought i broke a verteabrea or something as it was such a strange sensasation. I stopped went home took some tylenol worked it out got a massage, hot tub and iced it. It was spasming for hours until it became such a knot i couldnt drive or lift my arms. TOday it is a touch better but not much...WHat should i do, shouldnt i do and how long til i can go back. This is killing me especially since being inspired but cotto-judah..please help me guys and gals

your muscles arent used to this work or position. To me I would say that you over exerted the muscles and now they are acting up on you. Stretch and roll your neck before working and even when your just sitting around.

I had numerous problems like that after isolating muscle groups. Id walk around sore as shit for days but I would still work through the pain. In time it will heal and become stronger and able to handle the work..........Rockin':boxing:

Yo that tennis ball idea is nice. I might have to try that. You just come up with it or did you hear it from somehthing/someone?

That act of putting your chin down for when your fighting inside is supposed to be more a relaxation of you neck muscles.....By putting a tennis ball under your chin instead of relaxing your neck (or letting it rest on your chest) you forced your neck and upperback muscles to push the ball down thus putting strain on more or less everywhere you're having pain....While doing this you were punching and putting strain on the rest of your body...

Honestly I suggest you get it checked out just because you may have damaged something....This is just my opinion if could be wrong...but thats what i get from it...

No question, get a physio check, it seems to me muscle damage, I doubt you actually did anything to the bone, that would indeed be strange, but it's definetly something for a professional to look at, haha, not a boxing forum.

hmm, that sucks,

again, I'd say it's muscle damage, so lots of stretching, and lots of massages, if you can get them. You may also want to take a couple of days off.

it is funny you tell that story because when i first started doing front neck bridges, i got that same pop in my neck and the same thing happened although i stopped for a week after that instead of goin to the gym a few days later....all i can say it 3 things...stretch your neck routinely, get is massaged every so often... and the last thing, in situations like this, especially this, ICY HOT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!!!!!!!!! i kid you not, try it

With out a doubt this wont just go away. If you go to a reg M.D. You just will just get painkillers. That pop you heard was a unnatural adjustment of body structure. I would highly recommend a chiropractor. Not a non force" chiropractor. Most likely a sports or a force adjustment chiropractor. Best thing i ever did was take my 40$ to a chiropractor instead of a doctor.

I just got back from chiropractor. He said from years of over training chest and front and undertraining my middle back my spine started to creep forward from muscles pulling on it. He put stim pads on for 20 minutes or so and then proceed to align my spine. Man that felt good. Still have some soreness but feel worlds better. The best part was it was 30 dollars and each subsequent will be 30 dollars as well. Thank you very much for advice.
