Had my first proper sparring session tonight. I was up against a 200lb heavy handed fella whose about 5'9 or 5'10. I'm 6'3" and weigh 238 pounds. I loved every second of it. We basically did 2 rounds. I didn't throw any straight rights for the 2 rounds, I just worked my jab and used my reach to my advantage and kept him off at a distance. Got caught with a couple of good firm jabs but I took them well and had a big grin on my face. My sparring partner said I've got good accuracy and a very heavy jab that stunned him when it connected.
Can't wait for my next session!

I've only been attending the gym twice a week for the last 2 months. The first 2 months I was attending here and there. Plus they're very strict about having your medical done first before you spar.
Well done it seems you held yourself well for your first sparring session. I remember the first time i spared i got the shit kicked out of me lol my nose was bleeding and everything lol. Anyways well done. :boxing:

I wouldn't say that. Especially for someone who's very new to the sport, I probably wouldn't put them into the ring for a full on spar maybe for 3-4 months.
Anyways, good job man, hope you enjoyed it.

nice one pal. Well done mate - my gym wanted me to put in for the medical before sparring - i reckon there getting quite strict in the ABA ( your medical will surely be another reason why it has taken 3 -4 months for you to get in the ring.)
What weight your planning to fight at? You look like a big lad, - i take it you'd be a senior (over 19) we might end up on the same show perhaps if i visit down south, or you come north.
Well done about your first spar mate. keep it up, sparrings mint isn't it.
