A decent performance and a good result (counting chickens) so why I am still unhappy.
Maybe because it is clear and was clear to nearly everyone that McClaren doesn't know what he's doing. fair enough we're not blessed with good strikers, but knowing that Crouch was going to crucial to our qualifying campaign, he drops from the squad the best deliverer of crosses in England and perhaps the world. It was a big statement from a man who thinks he is much better than he is. I don't have any faith in him whatsoever, and I want him out at the first opportunity.
ON the plus side, Owen scored and Dyer is looking really good at the moment
On the downside, Crouch is suspended and Lampard must surely be dropped once Hargreaves is fit.

I thought it was a decent performance. Good to see Owen score as he is our biggest threat.
Crouch offers good support to Owen and you cannot deny he is a good player (Thats 12 goals in 18 games for England isn't it?)
I was impressed with King tonight, thought Brown played well and I hate to admit it when I'm wrong but it seems I was about Beckham as we have missed his quality in there.
I'm not sure if the Lampard issue is being blown out of proportion as I re-watched the Brazil game the other morning and he did OK, same as tonight he was no world beater but he did OK.
Germany next isn't it? Rooney is back then as well!

I don't trust McClaren to have a plan and get the players to execute it. We played alright tonight, maybe a bit better than that. I think one of the problems that we have and is often overlooked is our complete lack of pace. Our most dynamic players are in the back four and Gerrard in the holding role. I'm not a Lampard basher, in fact I think Gerrard getting out of position was ignored by a lot of the media during the past couple of years, but I'd prefer Hargreaves and Gerrard further forward.
Owen is important as a goal-scorer, but we lack real pace in the last third. Witness the impact of Dyer when he came on. His career has been a real shame thus far.
King is a very good player; Brown played well but he'll **** up at a crucial time, he can't cope with the pressure. I'd take jamie over him 10 times out of 10.
Rambling post I know.

No, we are on the same page here mate.
I still think McClaren is the wrong man for the job!

Your right but the thing is Becks had become a disruptive influence, he would trot 80 yards to take a 5 yard free kick or come into the middle to pick up the ball when we had Lamps and Gerrard already in there with Cole trying the same thing hence we lost our shape.
More inportantly he lost his form for England and had a poor couple of years in a white shirt, I'm glad he is back playing well but I think him being dropped has given him the kick up the arse he needed!
