msagrain 06-06-2007, 02:03 PM the person in the black gloves really needs to throw more punches
GreatestIAM 06-06-2007, 02:39 PM It seems like you know what you wanna do and kinda what you are doing but your punching technique for the most part sucks, i even saw you throw a few girly overhands dat just dont look like boxing, you seem to be kinda slow, you do keep your hands up but i could bit you wit right and left to the body all day followed bu uppercuts and youd be lunch meat.... you started throwin kangaroo punches and for as garbage ass as your sparring partner looked cuz he 1 didnt throw punches 2 doesnt seem to plant his feet anywhere in the vid and 3 he only threw like 10 punches you got hit to much try moving your head side to side or popping up and down! get ya game up kid alota work!
shawn_ 06-06-2007, 02:52 PM You are off to a good start, but you still have A LOT to work on.
The only good thing I really saw was your strait right to your body, and even calling that good would be a stretch.
You need to work on your punching technique, your footwork, your headmovment, your hand speed, your defense.
First thing I noticed is your Jab. You need to shoot it out strait from your chin and turn it over. You seem to kind of move your hand up and slap downwards with your jab. Really work on shooting it strait. You will catch alot of gloves, but thats okay.
When you get inside and flurry, dont look at the ground. This is important. There is a difference between keeping your chin down, and looking at the ground. You need to be able to see what you are punching at if you hope to land anything.
You need to work on not lunging in so much with your strait right hand to the body, you will catch counter hooks to the face vs people with experiance. Also, keep up your left when you throw it.
Just do lots of SLOW and I emphasize SLOW shadow boxing. Really focus on using proper technique when you throw your punches.
Shadow boxing is one of the most important training tools there is in boxing. People really under utilize it in my opinion. Do it often, and do it slow. If you cant do it right slow, you will never be able to do it right fast.
You are off to a good start if you are just begining. If you arnt just begining, you need to find a new trainer, because anyone that would let sombody get away with technique like that isnt worth their weight in dirt.
Animal Squabbs 06-06-2007, 04:15 PM I dont like critqueing shit, but I will say that your sparring partner sucks though man.

Yeah your sparring partner was poor. But props for posting the vid and dnt take some of the critics comments to heart.
Hazmat 06-06-2007, 05:19 PM I have posted vids of my sparing, so I know it takes balls.
The first thing I would say is you need to relax, alot, and keep your shit tight. You look kind of wound up and your throwing wild. keep your guard tight and your movement controled. this will go a long way towards saving energy and being able to take advantage of the opponent by slipping and fiening. I totally agree with the comment about shadow boxing slow. make sure your form is good and your movements are efficient when nobody is punching at you.
Also spar as often as you can and with anybody who will spar with you and you will improve quickly. keep it up.
Rockin' 06-06-2007, 07:06 PM Its obvious that you are relatively new to the sport, but you did good. You used your jab and kept rolling around him, nice straight rights to the body as well (Keep that going, you'll love it against southpaws)
Keep it up man, I looked to be about your age when I began boxing, you can do what you want with it but it all comes down to this.......How bad do you want it...................Good job man, Rockin':boxing:
cybernica 06-06-2007, 07:49 PM Thanks everybody for the comments. The main reason for posting is to get feed back whether it be good or bad, I am all ears. I have posted several videos on here already.
I like throwing the straight right hand, but as a few mentioned my trainer gets on my ass for lunging in...I am a work in progress :). As for the jab...he gets on me for that too, for some reason the bag and mitts the form is much better and more fluid then when I am sparring. But I guess in time it will all come together.
Domain 06-06-2007, 07:57 PM i like how you went body head, body head good attack in mixing it up you got a good base man...the gloves seemed heavy though once you keep training at least 3 days a week and your hands are stronger your sparring will look crisper.
how old are you? and what are you stats height and weight?
Trick 06-07-2007, 04:27 AM I wouldn't add anything no one else has said already, other than to emphasize that you need a better sparring partner, haha.
But decent job, and props on posting the vid.
