i have no problems with mvp. i think you are right that he packs the credentials. but actually only about 15% of the population are educated and literate enough to know these things. sadly our elections can still be won via popularity, however there were signs that we have matured already. (goma, cesar and many celebrities failed in both local and national elections).

which comes to play mar roxas' mr. palengke concept, which is a long-term, continuous program that seeks to identify himself to the masses. if you havent yet noticed, by the latter part of the election period, there was a mar roxas commercial which showcased our people's right to vote and to vote intelligently, without endorsing any candidate. this is actually meant to make roxas visible to people during the campaign period, re-introducing his popular commercial jingle which will resound every now and then up until 2010.

his current relationship with korina sanchez is well-publicized and is clearly given a stamp of approval by the public. not only that, he also carries the "public service persona" advantage of miss sanchez. we have noli de castro as vice-president and legarda as a top senate election topnotcher. this is what richard gomez and ceasar didnt have. these figures were all visible on tv, but besides being news anchors, castro, legarda and sanchez had public affairs program that reached and touched the masses. hence, even if they didnt have local goverment experience, theyre most likely to win on a national level election.

but what separates mar roxas from most candidates if ever is that he is well-versed not only on the micro-level of governance but as well as in the macro level.. you can view his website www.marroxas.com as proof.

im also safe to say that mar roxas will not be a corrupt leader as at what we have the past 3 presidents. roxas is a member of the araneta clan, one of the richest families not only in the philippines but in asia. money or richness is not an issue to him, had it been he could have pursued a career in the international scene. ive always believed that we should have a president who is a "well-established" millionaire/billionaire, someone who will not be lured by the temptation of money in government. he also had exposure from the private sector which is adversely affected by corruption in govt so he knows that it has to go.

i think he has his sights on the presidency already at this early age, which is what we should suppose to appreciate. we would want to have a president that has a plan for us AHEAD rather than just run for the sake of running.

Mar Roxas or MVP i think wala tayong problem sa kanila, gaya ng sabi ni ace, millionaire/billionaire kailangan para nde matukso sa pagkurakot.

I would also like MVP being the president, kung sa managerial skills eh, hands down, magaling talaga tong taong to at matalino. as far as popularity is concern, maybe that is why parang maraming mga sports and other outreach projects tong si MVP just for people to know him more. as of now kasi, parang yung business and employed sectors lang ang nakakakilala sa great great accomplishments nya sa PLDT.

@Papa Ace, great insights you shared there pre.

for your in fo, Manny Pangilinan pulled a fast one on mark jimenez by buying Meridian Telekoms, which is now what we call Smart Bro for an astounding P 2 billion.

Meridian was actually bought by Jimenez in 1999 for i think just P14 million if Im not mistaken. But Jimenez isnt ready to sell because he knows broadband internet will be the future and he can make tens to hundreds of billions more. But Jimenez was jailed in the US, and Pangilinan secretly made a deal with his family and bought Meridian for a cheap P2B.

Actually that's the reason now why Jimenez is in the news and tirades from his family and vice versa were being blown up by the media. For the meantime, Manny Pangilinan will be laughing his way to the bank as long as Filipinos are using the internet.
