same thoughts here.
shawn_ 06-04-2007, 12:49 AM You guys are way too eager to buy into gimmics.

it helps reduce stress on your joints, and relieves the tension on the wrists which is a plus.
its not a gimic look it up man...and read the reviews for the thing or try a pair at sports store...these shits are hard to do! because they build up your stabilizers thats why people who do regular push ups have trouble doing this with ease because it forces you to keep your balance cause the thing swivels.
it was invented by some navy seal guy.
shawn_ 06-04-2007, 01:05 AM and how does it do that? You still put 100% of your weight on your wrists. Its a gimmic, no different than the thigh master.

whatever your loss...i dont buy into those gimmick shits like thigh master lol.
why are you calling something a gimmick when you have no idea what it does or how it works? did you even bother reading the page or watching the video? stop being ignorant man.
and try a pair if they have them at the sporting goods store or department store around your area you will pick some up and your chest, triceps, biceps, shoulders will be sore as hell after trying a workout thats no joke either.
I bet you anything when you first try it you will be shaking or trembling like a mofo that shows that your stabilizers are weak.
Hitman932 06-04-2007, 02:14 AM shit, get em for the placebo effect, just the fact that you spent some money on em will make you want to put em to use and youll be doing more pushups than before.

was thinking the exact same shit. its all propaganda.
shawn_ 06-04-2007, 02:39 AM Domain, if you really want to buy this, go for it. I also have some killer thigh cream for you. Just rub it on and you will never have to do road work again. I promise.

push ups do not put 100% of your bodyweight on your wrists. it is no where near that amount - more like 40%. a handstand will get 100% weight on your hands though.
to me, these do not seem necessary. they look like a waste of cash. people have been doing push ups and similar exercises for hundreds of years. it has worked so far.
interesting that core strength has been brought up. why not just work on core strength directly instead of indirectly with modified push ups?
shawn_ 06-04-2007, 04:26 AM Thats besides the point J, he was saying it reduces the weight on your wrists. I was trying to make the point you still have your weight on your wrists. No change from a normal pushup.
SryNoAutographs 06-04-2007, 08:21 AM I'll stick with my own basic push-up....

Working on your core strength in synergy with other musle groups, in movements is definitely better than isolation exercises. Acrunch for example, doesn't teach your core how to contract while throwing a punch.
That said, I definitely agree with the rest of what you said.

ok, well if that was brought up, i would say who wants less weight on thier wrists? a boxer should have strong wrists. they are not going to get strong by babying them.

i don't see how these modified push ups do much in this department. if you want to improve your punching, you punch.
proper body coordination is stressed to an insanely high degree in my boxing system. it is stressed so much that it goes into more detail than most other fighting systems. coordination has to be in the movement itself. these push ups don't simulate a punch very much. no push ups do. push ups are basically for conditioning. there is only so much you can do with pushing yourself up off of the floor.
SpeedKillz 06-05-2007, 11:34 PM you can do the same shit with two towels on a hard wood floor. put ur hands on the towels, and jus swivel them the same way u would with these jawns. this thing is a gimmick of the highest order.
