When ever i spar and try to get in close useing a jab straight combo i always get caught by shots on the way in. All i want to know is there any way i can use that combo to get in close and throw more combos without getting caught by hard shots on the way in or do i have to take the shots to get in close? please help as i keep getting caught whenever i try it which discourages me from getting in close. :boxing:

i have the same problem ... what i tried once was jab to the head then jab to the body then back up with the straight right to the head and your in, wont always work though

jab and slip jab and slip... i have the same problem, its not that it doesent work its just that you get too predictable if youre not mixing offense and defense fluidly

if you slip to the right, bring the right hand as you come back to center

slip to the left hit him with a left hook to the body and then bring the right hand through

also, get your opponent used to the single jab for awhile and then really drive him back with a hard double jab... if you get him moving backwards you will have the leverage to waste him with the right hand and he wont have his feet to hit you hard enough to do any damage in return

I really need to find a way in as i'm not to fast but hit quite hard so getting in close is a beter option. What i may try is to throw one of those spearing jabs that knock the head of my opponent back so it gives me more time to get in without getting hit. I really need advice.

maybe you shouldnt lead so much..

bait the other guy into throwing the 1-2 and if you can slip that right hand and bang him to the body with your left you will be able to get on top of him and start banging away
