I think Liston would win by either a late stoppage or by decision. I can't see Foreman being KOed or TKOed, I simply see Liston, who was the better boxer of two, cutting Foreman pretty badly, and then the ref steps in, however, I can also see Foreman surviving the fight, but would lose by decision.

I think there were really only two guys in HW history who might be likely to beat prime Foreman. And he knocked one of them out of the tournament in the last round and will face the other in the final. ;^>

George goes through. :boxing:

too difficult to call.

I might say Liston because of better skills. But I have to think about it more before voting.

george foreman knocks liston out in 3 rounds :boxing:

3 rounds??? I mean I can see why some people would pick Foreman in this one, I picked Liston though, but 3 rounds??? watch this and you'll think differently:

liston wins this. liston was foreman's idol, george would be scared of him. liston is also the better boxer, foreman hit harder but sonny is by a long ways the more skilled fighter. liston by UD

It would be a fantastic fight. To me its a toss-up so I would say Foreman by decision.

I have a real hard time deciding the outcome of this one.

George Foreman was a force of nature in his prime and would probably be the slightly harder hitter in this fight. It is hard to envision anyone ever being able to defeat Foreman in a slugfest, and if Sonny Liston decided to stand toe-to-toe with Foreman, I see him coming out the loser.

I do not think Liston would stand toe-to-toe with Foreman how ever. He would rather use his superior boxing skills and longer reach to keep the raging Foreman at bay for the first couple of rounds. He carried more than enough power to earn Foremans respect, and he had the faster hands. He also had a solid chin, so I cannot see Foreman taking him out early.

I believe that Liston would outbox Foreman, hurting him along the way. Inside 8-10 rounds, I think we would have a stoppage on our hands. A Foreman win would not surprise me how ever, and I surely would not be placing money on this one.

Sonny Liston by tko9.

Just watching Sonny Liston's jab has left me impressed. It's such a great jab, i really can see it giving Boreman trouble, like some other boxer have. Problem is Liston's chin. I've never thought that he took a dive 100 % that fight. But he has taken good shots as well so i can't look at that annymore. Liston has the advantage mentally, skill and stamina. I'm not giving this superman a chance against everyone just because he was a brute that could overpower most fighters. Sometimes you just need skill, right Jimmy Joung and Muhammad Ali?

I would favor Liston in this one,I would say Foreman has the more power but Sonny has the better all round boxing skills.Foreman has a great chance against any heavyweight from any era and if it turns into a brawl he takes Liston out,but i wouldn't imagine Sonny would take that option as he by far the more accurate puncher/boxer and would more than likely pick Big George off at range.
Liston by late ref stoppage or ud.

Liston would beat Foreman to the punch and outlast him to either a decision or a late stoppage.

Sonny Liston TKO 11 George Foreman:fing02:

This is a 50/50 fight for me, I can see George wearing him out in the opening rounds, but if it went late and George got tired he would take a whoopin.

Man did you see Sonny hitting that bag in that video? He hit harder than George! George hit a 100lbs bag in training, I think everytime I've seen Sonny hit a bag it was 70 or less but George couldn't make it move like that, he just pulverized the thing.

Sonny Liston had the better KO power, Foreman had the bludgening blows, like someone taking a sledge hammer to you, real heavy bone crushing shots instead of Shavers, Baer, and Liston's Brain liquifiers.
