Lady Victoria Beckham FFS come on it has to be a joke.:purity: OptimusWolf 06-01-2007, 09:58 AM You don't get to be called lady if your hubby is a sir - I didn't think. Lady is the equivalent of Lord. She'd just be plain posh. He's a top sportsman who has had a massive mostly positive cultural impact over the past ten years. He's faced adversity in several forms and come through to continue performing at the highest level of the game. I don't give a **** who gets knighthoods to be honest, the crown can swivel for all I care. The Fix 06-04-2007, 11:21 PM who gives a ****? the monarchy is a complete scam... OptimusWolf 06-05-2007, 09:21 AM On one level I don't care about the monarchy, and I feel a smidgeon of pity for the way their lives are under such scrutiny, however much money they get from the taxpayer (it's miniscule really) But on the other hand it really annoys me that when I have a kid he or she will be born inferior because they won't be a member of the royal family. At least in presidential systems there is a vague notion of equity, even if in practice the same families get into office again and again.... me2007 06-05-2007, 01:01 PM i like the monarchy, they bring a lot of money into the UK through tourism and merchandise. I also think its great that they are living decendants of past Kings and Queens. Some kids are born into rich familys, some into poor familys. OptimusWolf 06-05-2007, 01:52 PM Not quite the same - you need to look for the differences between having money and having a received superiority in the eyes of the law of this country. I don't care if they are descendants of some tyrant, there are hundreds of thousands of people who could make that claim and be correct. Sure they bring tourism, but most people come to London for the buildings not the people themselves. Buckingham palace would still exist just like the Pyramids do. vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
