Since they purchased Pride I do not see any of the smaller MMA fighting promotional companies filling that void to compete on a National/International Level. Thus preventing the fighters to negotiate fairly to receive bigger purses for their fights.

Of course they are, this is business, they are the WWE of MMA.
UFC is almost identical to WWE, marketed similar, rankings are similar, business structure is the same, fighters are underpaid and an evil bald (i think McMahon is still bald) annoying white man runs the show.

Very true, even though I haven't really caught up with WWE lately, you make valid points.
Also....anybody know whatever happened to the Pride Lightweight Grand Prix?

It got cancelled. They are shooting for August. The Pride deal was finalized only a few days ago.

Even WWE has its' TNA counterpart, but the UFC is like the 800 pound Gorilla that no one can deal with. It's only when a major force can start competing with the UFC on an International level will we see any big changes in the salary department. Look at what happen to Brandon Vera. His manager tried to to negotiate aggressively with Dana White's people and poor Brandon got thrown to the back-burner. Even UFC-UK is starting to clean house over across the pond. The smaller MMA organizer's a falling by the knee side with the expansion of the UFC-Europe. I hear the new UFC-UK president is even more a hrad ball than his USA counter-part, Dana White.
