No, its because your are trying to concentrate on something else. You dont want to be in the middle of a kiss, daydream etc and have to see anything to distract you.

We close our eyes when we run into a wall, or when we fall into dust, and when we sleep. This is a simple protective reflex, for the most part. I may well be wrong in some cases though.

The tricky question is the following:

If you kiss a beautiful girl, why do you need to close your eyes?
