Pankratos has been currently petitioning as well as Submission Wrestling.

For one, and just my two cents that don't mean much.

I'm pretty sure there would be a dilemma as to people ordaining a set of rules that governs Olympic MMA. For instance........the japanese would lobby for all strikes allowed on the ground, and soccer kicking to the face acceptable.

Here in the States that's not allowed and I'm 100 percent sure mainstream media figures would NEVER consider allowing someone to step on someone elses face during ANY type of Olympic event.

And excuse the CAPITALIZING things, I have the old Welter syndrome today.

Cause the **** they do is already in the Olympics like wrestling, boxing, judo, etc. Well, they do have thriatlon which is running, biking and swimming. Anf finally and more importantly, MMA is not an amateur sport. This is why!

MMA is not actually a "sport" it is a convination of sports, the all have a different set of skills, plus its too new to be in there. the comitte is picky, i dont even think Karate is in yet. i think its only Tae Kuan Do and Judo.

too many different rules from different countries.And if 1 country man doesnt like another country man,one of them might try to beat there ass til there knocked the **** out,and make some kind of comment.can u imagine,palastines vs. isreal?

boxing is different overseas, i.e. they let you rabbit punch more in europe and etc...yet there's no problems in the olympics.

That's the weird thing. They allow Boxing and Grappling, yet they've never allowed Pankratos (now Pankration) in the Olympics. Pankration is the cross training of both Boxing and Grappling. The IFP, sanctioning body of Pankration, has been petitioning for an exhibition spot since the 90's.

FILA, the big organization for Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling, is giving Submission wrestling a try and are working with experts to hold experimental tournaments. They'll be petitioning for exhibition next year.

Does anyone still watch the Olympics?

Just for the Judo, TKD, Wrestling and sometimes Boxing.

MMA used to be called parankan (sp?) .....and it was in olypics

it would be fun the best countrys would be usa and brazil....

I think they should allow Jiu-Jitsu into the Olympics and get rid of Judo. They should also get rid of Taekwondo and replace it with Pancrase matches.
