Its not a case of not needing him (although...how well have we done since he was dropped exactly?) its a case of the fact that he is still good enough to be in the squad and in the team and that he should never have been dropped in the first place.

Steve 'Mistake' McClaren dropped Beckham as a publicity stunt, to show how "I'm the boss of the team, I make the decisions, what I say goes". Which backfired badly, with the fans, with the press and with performances on the pitch. Beckham is still to this day the best man to captain England. He is the only player who doesnt regularly go missing for game after game and who does regularly step up to the big games.

His very esteemed and respected boss at Real Madrid said that he'd never play again under him. Since then he has admitted that Beckham is in the form of his life and has almost single-handedly help propel a HUGE team full of stars like Real Madrid back to form. How many of the list you have posted can say that?

Should never of dropped him in the first place. Was a power move by Sven McClaren, uncalled for and totally disrespectful.

Doesn't really make that much of a difference to the England team, they aren't going to be better with him England will always be shit whatever the scenario.

Bit of a kick in the face to the younguns seeing as McClaren said the future was so bright.

Hopefully we will lose all our games and McClaren will get sacked and **** off. Man is a full blown prick.

It's the F.A's fault, they only go for yes men. Thats why Cloughie never got the Eng;and job, same as why Allardyce never got it and they gave it to that twat McClaren instead.

Beckham is the most overated player of My lifetime. He is a average player IMO and should never have got that many caps for England. I agree with Naz-fan, we dont need him.

We get a couple of bad results to some third world countries and all of a sudden the women of this country are crying to have Beckham back! If I remember correctly when Beckham got injured in Germany Lennon came on and played a blinder. Lennon is a right winger, he takes on players, something that Beckham stopped a long time ago.

Beckham's ability at set pieces is worth his inclusion alone.

To include Beckham in my opinion is a step backwards.

He was a great player and can now still do a job but he influenced the England squad in a bad way, after poor performances culminating in a weak World Cup he was rightfully dropped (it was as much about a McClaren power play as anything else) so to bring him back now is show of weakness.

The England squad is full of Premier League and European Cup Winners, what does that say about them that we have to bring an ageing right midfielder to save our qualification?

As always we have the right players but the wrong management.

McClaren is now already clutching at straws to save his career, bringing Beckham back only solidifies that view in my opinion!

Beckham is only 32 (half of the French team who got to the last world cup final were older). Bringing him back says "I made a mistake and instead of obstinately sticking to it, I'm admitting it". He's in the best current form of any English player, so yes...he deserves to be brought back.

Sorry mate cant agree with you, Gerrard, Lampard, Carragher, Ferdinand, Rooney and Terry have had consistently good seasons.

I agree that Beckham has played well of late but to now disrupt the squad again at a vulnerable time is poor management.

Who would you drop then Mik?

None of them have been integral in one of the biggest teams in club football returning to form and looking like they are going to capture their domestic title.

Beckham, by his own critical bosses admission has. Lampard has had an average season. Gerrard's and Carragher's team got nowhere near the title. Ferdinand and Rooney both had long poor spells throughout the season and Terry has admittely been decent all season, as usual.

Who would I drop? Out of the team or out of the squad to make way for Beckham? Out of the team (cos I imagine thats what you mean) I'd happily get rid of Lennon. He is a good individual player, but has had absolutely no impact upon the team whatsoever. I would even drop Lampard and play Beckham instead of him. Gerrard is a much greater player than Lampard and it is evident that they cant both play together and when they do, Gerrard is undoubtedly the better performer.

Beckham brings set-peices (which are fairly shite otherwise), crosses, a strong range of passing and a bit of heart on the field that has been woefully absent of late.

Any footballer who wants a tatoo of St George on the back of their head probably deserves a place.
