Parody 05-26-2007, 12:02 PM For test matches:
1. Marcus Trescothick
2. Alastair Cook
3. Michael Vaughan
4. Kevin Pieterson
5. Paul Collingwood
6. Ian Bell
7. Matt Prior
8. Andrew Flintoff
9. Steve Harmison
10. Matthew Hoggard
11. Monty Panesar
This just might be the best test team if these players are put together in 1 team.

vaughan and trescothick are shot. harmison is crap. you guys NEED simon jones back. and id find room for strauss he's young enough to make something of himself yet. seeing collingwood has an abundance of balls he should lend at least one of his nuts to bell..
cook is your future. Prior is the only one i havent seen.

Prior is excellent batsmen wicketkeeper. watch him out, his first class record is excellent, he like Pieterson is from Southafrica as well playing for england.
His test average at the moment is 147, made a century in his test debut

sounds like an excellent addition. your batting lineup seems to be in good hands. n e decent quicks coming through? haha no i dont consider anderson or mahmood good! panesar will be solid but no spectacular IMO.
The Monk 05-27-2007, 10:25 AM Yeah that is the team I would go for at the moment, but I would be looking to get Bopara in the team by the end of the summer, preferably for Bell. Also im still not fully convinced that Monty is really as good as people make out...Rashid is the future of english spin bowling. All in all though English Cricket has a bright future at test level.
OptimusWolf 05-28-2007, 01:49 PM Good side parody. I'd tweak it based on the conditions, and Simon Jones could take Harmisons place as suggested, especially on flat tracks where I'd also include another bowler at the expense of Collingwood.
Vaughan is not shot. That phrase doesn't fit in cricket, apart from certain bowlers who just lose their action. Witness Gillespie as a "shot" bowler who might be pulling a Foreman...

Hey you guys seems like you know your cricket, thing is, england are pretty bad at cricket, they havent got a good strike bowler (does Harmi count? lol) and their best two batters imo. (strauss and peitersen are from SA)
Unfortunatley the dream team of cricket plays for one country, if i had to pick my 1st 11, it would be.
1) Haydos (Hayden)
2) Gilly (Gillchrist)
3) Punter (Ponting)
4) Pup (M. Clarke)
5) Roy (Symonds)
6) Huss/Mr Cricket (Hussey)
7) Watson
8) Hogg
9) Lee
10)Bracken
11)Tait
adietheforestfa 05-30-2007, 03:38 PM Stuart Broad?????????????????????

i think gillespie has been one of the most harshly treated players in history. his form slump was nothing compared to what some have gotten away with.
still he'll go down in history as the only player to ever be dropped after scoring a double century in their last outing.
OptimusWolf 05-31-2007, 07:13 AM I think whilst Australia as a team are head and shoulders above the rest of the cricket world, their individual players are not as good as you make out.
Actually, as of right now, I'd only pick Ponting and Hussey as certains for a world XI. Gilchrist is an all-time great no doubt, but I think he's on the downhill, and Sangakara is outstanding as well.
Hayden is in blistering form but I've always thought he was a flat-track bully who can score runs on bouncy true pitches but put him on a burner or a green-top and he is in trouble.
England, S.Africa and India aren't that far off competing IMO, since the retirements of Warne, Mcgrath and Langer.
OptimusWolf 05-31-2007, 07:16 AM Broad could be special (fingers crossed)
Should have guessed your contribution would be Nottingham-linked Adie!

yeah id agree... sangakarra has gilly pipped for now. you might be right about hayden but i cant think of two openers id choose above him right now??
im really looking forward to watching australia in the tests without mcgrath and particularly warne.
OptimusWolf 05-31-2007, 07:50 AM Gilchrist is No.1 post-war keeper (my knowledge of pre-war is shaky and the game was so different anyway).
Hayden can be devastating for sure, and you're right there's not a lot of strength in the openers department at the moment so he's in. i've always thought of him as a slightly better version of Tresco.
Hayden
Dravid
Ponting
Kallis
Pietersen
Hussey
Sangakarra
Flintoff (just)
Ntini
Murali
One more seamer (is there anybody with talent and experience out there??)
Australia will still be impressive right now, but over the next five years I wouldn't be surprised if the test arena gets a lot more competitive.
adietheforestfa 05-31-2007, 03:33 PM Broad could be special (fingers crossed)

Why because his dad played for Notts??
I know a couple of guys who played cricket for Notts at the same time as Beana, apparently he is a right cunt, he would refuse to train if it didnt involve batting and would never get involved with catching practice in case he hurt his hands. Im not a great fan of Beana Broad Snr.
Iv seen Stuart Play and he is very good with bat and ball.
Maybe i should mention by far the best wicket keeper in the World Chris Reid. Shame he cant bat for Toffee.
adietheforestfa 05-31-2007, 03:52 PM What about this for Best England Team Ever?????
1. Boycott
2. Hammond
3. WC Grace
4. Hutton
5. Jardine ( Captain )
6. Botham
7. D'Olivera
8. Knott ( wk )
9. Underwood
10.Trueman
11. Larwood

fair team. i couldnt have flintoff in there atm.
not too many stand out seamers gettin around. maybe shane bond of new zealand. alot of people would say brett lee but **** him.
OptimusWolf 06-01-2007, 06:23 AM actually yep, I'd stick Lee in there right now, although it's a criminally weak time for seamers, neither he nor Ntini are exactly special, hence Flintoff gets a game as a third seamer with Kallis providing support. You could replace Kalliis with yousuf and Flintoff with another seamer, but I genuinely don't think there is anyone much better than Freddie with the ball right now.
Adie, Broad is from Nottingham I thought. I can't pick any players I've not seen plenty of footage for, otherwise I'd have Sydney Barnes bowling every over. Interesting decision between Underwood and Laker to be made as well.
