Who/How does this fight go down. Me and my friend were talking about this fight the other day. I was wondering who you think would win. I am sure this topic has been brought up but I couldn't find it here. \

I say Ali by late round KO.

Ali would bust him up and stop him via TKO or just win a UD.

Ali would ware him down and get a late stoppage win, or maybe even a decision win. I don't see Marciano getting KOed, he would give Ali some hell though in this fight.

I was never sure about this one. I used to think Marciano would catch up on Ali, but then i obsessively watched Ali's prime. The thing is, he had incredible stamina for the last rounds, just like Marciano. And Ali's strategy was to finish strong in the last 5 or so rounds. This decreases Marciano's chances, and on top of that, Ali has never been knocked out early or late, not even by Frazier's best punch in the 15th round. Marciano would have to cut the ring off the whole fight against the most fleet footed bastard ever in the HW's, get in close and end up tied up with his head pushed down. Basicely i think Marciano would win his rounds with more meaningfull punches, you know how boxing is. So in the end i think Ali would end up winning a close decision.

I think they did this by computer.... Marciano won. I'm not sure but, I think they fed the data in and it made it happen.

Good analysis. Rocky Marciano would hang in there, putting pressure on Muhammad Ali, but I cannot see him being able to stop Ali. First off, Alis mobility, stamina and chin were all incredible. In addition to this Marciano was not as "busy" a fighter as were Frazier. Plus his reach was even shorter. So I guess Ali would have had an easier time staying away from Marciano. Marcianos punches would hurt more, but Alis chin would probably help him survive. I either see Ali taking home a fairly comfortable decision or a tko after cutting Marciano (he cut easily and Ali had a very ripping left jab).

Don't get me wrong; Ali would have to work hard and stay very focused throughout the fight to win.
