I was mainly working on certain things, and as u can see punched fast on certain parts, and I was using punching power like a 15year old. 119lber.Although I let my friend and his brother accidentally hard a few times and then they gave up cause they were hurt.haha

This is more of a playful spar, nothing too serious to the eye.But to me its serious cause it helps me figure **** out instead of thinking bout it play out in my head.I hurt my wrist awhile back so ive been out of boxing for a while. Now its healed and I can go back,so Im trying to get the rust off.Because this summer my schedule should be packed with am.fights.

I just told my friends,to just throw shots at me and go hard if they pleased, but in some parts u can tell they were alittle scared to pop me hard.haha

Yo vers. I hate the fact that the guys you spar are so bad... This guy was even worse than usual, and it doesn't do you any favors IMO.

One of the things that stands out to me in this vid, is your balance. I really think you should be working on your footwork as your balance is kinda poor. This actually explaíns (at least to me) how you could get in such big trouble with those slippery shoes that time. Work on your balance and footwork, because you'll have BIG trouble catching someone who can actually box and move well.

I did what I needed to do,some sparring is better then none.I had a few things I wanted to work on.And with the balance issue, thats perfect for me,I have alot more leverage in my punches. The normal way with other ppl i really dont.I take what I feel comfortable with.I often turn southpaw alot,it helps me alot. Many coaches have tried to fix my "balance" but theres nothing wrong with it,well before i used to fall off balance but I fixed that awhile back.

I hope u guys dont take this spar too serious,I just needed some1 to throw punches at me. It does wonders on plans that I can do in my head.I have actually learned how to conserve energy and stamina.I sparred for 30min straight,I just cut the rest out the videos.

In the very beginning of the video is the punch ive been workin on in my head. Its a jab, hook, but its so compact its practically a jab.My friend quit after that,he said I hurt him.And it was a slow throwing punch too.Although his neck snapped back.

I fwd some of the fight cause there minds were on this girl cross the street, but I finished by sparring his brother, and hurt him too and he quit.haha. Remember I know these arnt world class, but it fulfills some things I wondered bout doing in my head.

Ever wonder why you've had "many coaches" work with you? Man, why do you even put this stuff up, when you're just gonna dismiss everything less than "oh my God, you're the greatest!", even well meant criticism and advice?
You make excuses and explanations, instead of taking some of the stuff said to heart. Look at what you're saying: I tell you your balance isn't that good. Suprise, apparently you've heard it before from "many coaches", yet you claim there's nothing wrong with it. add to that the glaring fact that you, in you single fight, was falling all over the place. Sure, maybe your shoes were a part of the cause, but your balance and footwork didn't help you!
Then you claim that you've "fixed" your balance a while back. Why whould you fix something when you claim there's nothing wrong?

It seems to me you just can't take any form of criticism, since your first reaction is to deny everything. You second reaction then, is to say you've fixed it. First of all, it can't be both, second I'm saying your balance needs work based on a 3 day old video. Did you fix it since then? :ugh:

Look, I think you're probably the best prospect in here (with some sharp cmpetition recently), but I also think there's a reason you've got all that potential, and you're still 0-1. I know you're just gonna blow me off instead of taking some of what I say to heart, so this is probably the last time I'm gonna give you any feedback.

This is only my second coach in almost 4 years. Yes I have bad balance but I work with it.I tried changing before but im too akward and even more off balance. A commentator and other ppl have also said tyson had bad balance, and that he would fall into southpaw alot.I mean im no tyson but uhhhhhhh he did pretty good for himself with his balance.

If it was horrible horrible to me then ok.But its not,u can take ne fighter past or present and find all sorts of things wrong with them.Theres no such thing as a perfect fighter and im far from it.I can only take what I feel will help in which jesse james leija has helped me with the balance issue.I can only do what I can.

Seems as if your trying to have an argument,I posted a sparring video, never claimed im the best or would whip all ppl around. So just calm down its not that serious.haha

And for the record it was the shoes that made me slip everywhere,my feet woulda had to been side by side to be that horrible.haha

Either you had "many trainers" or you had two. I'm confused... ;)

You see, an argument doesn't start with a statement. It starts when someone tries to refute that statement. I made the statement about your balance needs work (which I did to help you). You started the argument by saying "there's nothing wrong with it." :)

Now you tell me you have been working on it, and apparently, you're aware of the "problem." Why not just say that from the beginning?

You're right, there's no such thing as a perfect fighter, but a good fighter works on getting better.

Why do you post video's? Don't you want feedback? I don't get it.

I enjoy feedback, but the way I fight(which I dont see alot of ppl on tv doing)is change up alot,my power in both hands r about equal so I dont care if I switch up alot,I just do it.Theres a few things I posted there that I wanted to work on like keeping my back foot closer so I can have more leverage.

But my balance isnt horrible, before I was workin with jesse james it was,he spent alot of the times just workin on that with me.And to me falling of balance is literally falling off balance.Which if I did do that can u point it out so I can see it.

Theres also no such thing as perfect balance, alot of ppl fall of balance or square there feet up alot. What I wont mind hearing is how can I get really good balance after my jab.Which I admit I seem to fall off balance from. I heard different ways, but I like to hear more from u guys.I dont even cross my feet.ahaha another form of bad balance.

What I'm seeing is not so much you falling over as it is you lunging in, the guy moving away, and you all squared up, where you're unable to move for a second (which is a long ass time in boxing). Now the guy doesn't punish you for it, but any fighter would. You're in a very dangerous position, that you're slow to get out of, and you're getting away with it in this video, because the guy can't fight. That is why the other thing I said was that you're not doing yourself any favors sparring guys like this.
If you look at the video you posted on this page, that should be very obvious.

hmmm,so I should jab more to get even closer?Instead of lunging.I can see that,a few times he pivoted out the way and I was still in motion.I told him next time we spar for him to do that alot so I can work with it and find out how to counter it.

Yeah, jab more, or step in while timing his shots, and work on using feints more. (Edit: All this while controlling your footwork, that is)

To be fair, when you're not in a ring, closing the distance on a guy who doesn't want to is a lot harder.

HELL YEAH!!!!! Me and some friends and people from school, we would have like actual slap boxing matches. Ive slapboxed hundreds of times but in the actual official matches where wed be like, alright you too should slapbox and we'd set a date and hype it up and ****, people would judge it and have rounds, I am 38-3. Two of the losses came to an amateur boxer who was lighter and a little faster than me (the first time he won cause he was faster, the second time he won cause I used a low southpaw crouch and it wasnt workin at all) and the other was to a guy that would not stop runnin, we were in the middle of the street and there was no way to corner him. I chased him for two and a half rounds and with like 10 seconds left I rushed and threw like 5 at him and he backed away from them and jumped in and shoe shined, only one slap got in and I caught the others on my arms but to the people watching that gave him the win since it was close. Idiots.

We used to go all out with that ****. Almost everyday in highschool there would slapboxing at lunch. Its cool too cause its like our sparring for our street fights, sometimes before we fight somebody we slapbox alittle to warm up. I scored a knockdown and rocked some people in it, seen people get bruised and bloodied.

IIRC, you can't charge admission, and the fights don't go on your official record. But my gym does this a couple times a year; the admission is a suggested donation, and all proceeds go to charity. (My gym is a 501(c) corp, BTW.) So far, USA Boxing has been cool with it. There is also wicked little boxing in this latte-sipping granola yuppie hell, so it might be that they're happy for any visibility and/or community outreach we can provide. These inter-gym exhibition matches are typically well-attended.

Hey vers I liked the video but agree with that punch guy, you gotta a lot of potential and it looks like u got a lot of power its just your balance is off... I think u should do some more movement drills w/ ur freinds, take a faster good moving partner and try and move staying within the centerline of his body this will help ur movement, try adn strife around the ring or court to feel ur legs positioning, play alot of basketball and throw some plyo's in the mix. Also u gotta jab more if u do that ur other punches should come into effect easier, but use ur jab as a measurment, this might trick ur self in stayin closer with the guy and get ur feet movin a little, I hope this helps its worked 4 me so far adn movement and blance is one of my strong points, I will be posting some vids up soon adn would like a comment from u since u seem to be one of the more experienced fighters in the forum. Good luck trainin and hope this **** works 4 ya.

I like your advice,Im going to work on that on monday at the gym.
