I got this from my local orthodontist and this thing will not protect me from crap....Just remember when you go to get your mouthpiece made, ask for a sample of what it will look like first....
Talk about money wasted :( :(
PanzerboY 09-21-2004, 08:58 AM Ooouch! Is that your teeth in there?
spinksjinx 09-21-2004, 09:06 AM Ooouch! Is that your teeth in there?
No they took impressions from my upper teeth and molded the piece to fit perfectly inside my mouth, fits like a charm but obviously no protection for boxing...
NichtGeflechten 09-21-2004, 09:43 AM Try fitting that into a standard protector....you may have to do some "persuading" but if you get it to fit you can use permanent dental adhesive to fit the molded piece into the one size fits all....I've done it for people a few times, try looking for a surgical supply house.

How is that for safety?

Im thinking about just ordering one of their kits for impressions and send it back to them for like 50-80 bucks.
patto1984 09-24-2004, 03:36 AM get one from a sprts store thathas like $1000 dollar warranty on it.
You lose a tooth and u get $1000 and i think they have ones that go all the way upto 10k. No way the wont protect ur teef good.
elveiel 09-24-2004, 11:38 PM The mouth piece looks fine, What makes you think it wont protect your teeth?

It isnt thick enough and their is no gumshield around it...
elveiel 09-25-2004, 07:56 AM It isnt thick enough and their is no gumshield around it...
I'm not sure what you mean by no gumshield around it?
I have had to get my gumshield out and compare them!! ha ha! The thickness is fine, it looks exactly the same as mine.
I can see the impression of you teeth in it so it will protect your teeth better than any other mouth guard. The rubber may feel soft and thin so i can understand why you doubt.
I'm a heavy so i'm fighting big punchers ever time i fight and i havent had any problems since i started using dentist impression gum shields, I had loads of problems before i started using them!! Dont take my word for it, take both of your gumshields to the gym when you start going and ask your coach.
Real Deal 10-15-2004, 11:40 AM That mouthpiece sucks! It's hard to get a decent mouthpiece sometimes.

That mouthpiece would be just fine for you. That motupiece is more softer and thicker than that mouthpiece you have. I know, because I have bought those thin mouthpieces myself.

These are fine too! Softer and thicker. And those jaw joint protectors are fine too!

You cant get a custom fit mouthpiece at a store and that is what you need, Gladiator has sent me samples with my impression kit, they are pretty thick and durable....
Real Deal 10-15-2004, 01:02 PM if you boil those usual ones they will stick as good...

If i had to wear these mouthguards i wouldnt fight, they are cheap crap!!
The mouth guards you boil will never fit like a impression guard. If you dont get problems wearing boil guards your either a runner, fighting *****s or have the worlds best defence.
I think your first guard looks fine spinks but its hard to tell from a picture, as long as you buy an impression guard you should be fine. If i were you i'd ask your coach which one to wear. :D

THANK YOU!
Spired let me pop you one in the jaw w/ a custom guard and one of your boil and bite guards and see which one works better....Seriously man dont be stupid when it comes to healthcare....
Im not using it, it is tucked away in my dresser...That thing is more or less for football not boxing....I want protection especially since my teeth are a big investment.....

Very true, boxing is cool but you dont want to be an ugly cunt for the rest of your life because you bought a cheap guard!!! people with no teeth look rough!!
Invest your money well and you'll be fine.
elveiel 10-16-2004, 07:22 AM Here is a good reason to invest your money well

Exactly, it is better to lay down a couple bucks (even if it is like 200) and be well protected then be cheap now and have to spend thousands at a later time.
Real Deal 10-16-2004, 07:54 AM Very interesting, but a mouthpiece doesn't help you to avoid your teeth getting knocked out.

Sure it does, If someone hits you dead on in the mouth w/ no guard you could get your tooth/teeth busted out, but if you have a mouthpiece it absorbs the shock and does less damage.
Pugnacious_Z 02-18-2005, 07:51 AM oh yeah true that
Tha Greatest 06-04-2006, 09:29 PM Nice...

can you post the picture again so i can compare to the one i bought at the dentist office.
you have to find a doctor who makes these for boxers and you'll be set, talk to the local gyms and ask around who makes thd mouth guards for boxing.
The Raging Bull 06-05-2006, 06:33 AM This is very true. I picked up a mouthguard for about £4. I thought i had a bargain but it was rubbish. Went out and got a shock doctor.
SlightlyStoopid 06-05-2006, 12:38 PM we have a guy come into our gym and make really nice customs for us for 25 bucks :)
