I'm always kinda hesitant to start music threads on this forum, cause they always seem to die real fast. But I'm bored, so I feel the need to start a thread about Pearl Jam.

How can you not respect a band like Pearl Jam? In an age of videos and multimedia and all that ****, they've managed to create their own niche where they put out next to no videos, and are rarely seen on TV at all. It's unheard of in this day and age for a band to just STOP putting out videos. The only video they've put out in the last 7 or 8 years was totally animated, and they weren't in it at all. Frickin Eddie Vedder can probably shop at K-Mart without getting bothered too much. Well, maybe not Vedder, but Stone Gossard and the other guys probably have no problem. Not often an artist can sell MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of albums and be able to go to the 7-11 and buy a Twinkie without someone freaking out.

Oh yeah, and they've put out some damn good tunes over the years too. Cheers.

I like ten from Pearl Jam a lot. I went through a stage where I was depressed and drank a lot. I listened to ten and temple of the dog and blind melon 24/7 back then. I was a mess. I still throw that CD in just to remind myself of that time and how ****ed up a human can make himself.............**** did I say that out loud........never mind.......yeah great band

Touring Band 2000 is a great DVD, you seriously need to buy it if you don't already own it. If you do own it, go watch it right now.

Pearl Jam is by far one of the most influential bands of my time, and I believe I'll be alive to see them inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. They're the type of band that has stuck to the core of what type of music they came to play all along, and I respect that... even with the addition of new band members and a few which have come and gone over time, Pearl Jam continues to churn out great music. Riot Act had some great songs on it, and so has pretty much every CD they've ever put out... except Vitalogy, which I forgave them for a long time ago. All in all, their music changed my life, and altered the entire course of how I looked at things on a musical appreciation level. It was bands like Pearl Jam that opened the door to other bands like them... some of which will be my favorites until I die.... bands like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and so on. I hold Pearl Jam fully responsible for my love for music, and my appreciation for a group of guys who can get on stage or go into a recording studio, year after year, and create such powerful and emotional music so selflessly.

Great band. Great music.

Gotta disagree about Vitalogy. Sure, a lot of the songs on it are really just "taking up space", but songs like "Immortality" and "Corduroy" are pretty damn good.

Pearl Jam = piece of **** wanna be Nirvana.

they suck. end of story.

(this is all just my opinion. Music is a touchy subject for some. I am not forcing my views upon anyone just stating them.)

I like pearl Jam a lot, and I never felt like they sounded like anyone? Thier 10 abum was great! and the next couple were good. in 91 or when ever they came out there was a huge influx into non mainstream music because of the likes of :pearjam,Nirvana,Janes Addiction, Smashing pumpkins, Soundgarden,NIN,Ministry,Butthole Surfers....the list goes on. but without a doubt pearl jam had a huge part in the change of not just music but the american sub culture.
