View Full Version : hard alcohol on the weekends? whatevathehell 05-11-2007, 11:37 PM yay or nay? as far as training. I dont do the beer thing. i guess there's less calories in hard booze, but then that depends on what u mix it with too. only drinking on the weekends is much better than drinking a beer or couple beers every day. alcohol lowers testorone levels and increases estrogen, which causes u to store fat, which booze is - sugar that will be changed into fat. if i was gonna drink on the weekends, i'd drink gin and tonic like i used to or put the booze in OJ, or soemthing that's not as bad for u as cola ( sugared syrop ) enadeus 05-12-2007, 02:48 AM I believe liquor actually has more calories than beer, especially if its like a mix of different things. mickeyb 05-12-2007, 08:13 AM I believe liquor actually has more calories than beer, especially if its like a mix of different things. yea, i think a gin and tonic has alot more calories than a pint of beer. the only sugar in beer is the actual alcohol content. But the sugar in a G + T is both the tonic and the alcohol. The only plus with a G + T is that it is a clear liquid, unlike beer which means its less likely to give a hangover. mickeyb 05-12-2007, 08:14 AM Oh yeah, and i only have a drink every 2 weeks. last night i had 3 bottles of beer. So i do drink and train in the same week, kinda. leff 05-12-2007, 08:54 AM I believe liquor actually has more calories than beer, especially if its like a mix of different things. depends what you mix it with, booze in it self is like 1000 kcal every pint so a whisky staight ore on the rocks aint more than 50kcal. drink straight scothct ore atleast mix it with with something sweet. a couple off low kcal drinks on the weekend is okay leff 05-12-2007, 08:56 AM yea, i think a gin and tonic has alot more calories than a pint of beer. the only sugar in beer is the actual alcohol content. The worst being red wine etc. Something to do with a by-product in distilling called 'congeners'. I didn't know that about sugar. I just always thought the hangover was caused by the booze being a diuretic and that you become too dehydrated. MickyHatton 05-12-2007, 02:47 PM I like a beer but I try to drink a mix of beer and water on a night out, this stops dehydration, lowers the calorie intake and helps with the hangover. Plus you can be merry, enjoy the night and still be in control! NewbieRJJ 05-12-2007, 03:20 PM I mite go to a party tonite, i mite just have hard alcohol instead of beer, my next training day is tuesday so i think i mite be good by then medicineman 05-12-2007, 04:00 PM Jefe is the best beer on the planet. Ricky Hatton is a huge boozer when off training!... it is proberbly why people call him Ricky Fatton though, haha. I just keep telling myself this when i'm drinking.."its ok for Ricky...its ok for Ricky" shawn_ 05-13-2007, 01:44 PM The reason you dont drink is because of the negative effects it has on your CNS, not because of extra calories. Golden-Gloves 05-13-2007, 02:28 PM Roy Jones wont even touch $1200 bottles of Cristal, so I think to myself, I cant be as good as him if I drink.. :P vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
