View Full Version : ProChoice or ProLife
As many of you are aware I work for Sisters of Mercy, no, not the band, as much as I would like to, but the religious organization.
We have a golf outing every year to raise money for the schools. This year we had as an item for bid "Lunch with Governor Granholm" (Michigan's first female governor). However, she is pro-choice, even though she, personally is against it. Well the bid had to be pulled out and cancelled. All hell broke loose as you can imagine. Media is everywhere and I currently writting the press release.
What are your thoughts about the decision that was made?
Allison 02-13-2003, 11:52 AM Personally, I think its ridiculous..But, the action doesn't surprise me at all.
Of ourse, I have southern baptists in my face all the time, so I've heard more insanity than this.
Things is they had agreed to it before the parents and previous alumnis started pro-testing. We also have some Ted Nuggent items for bid, I am waiting for them to tell me we have to pull those out too, or maybe they wont..lol
Allison 02-13-2003, 12:02 PM Yeah, it isnt right..but like I say, religion never surprises me.
Kempo Chris 02-13-2003, 12:05 PM im pro choice
I was asking your opinion on pulling out once they had accepted the item for bid bob, I am pro life too, but this is different
Well They knew she was pro choice when they set it up so they should stick with it and not be wussys Kato
handjobs4dollars 02-13-2003, 12:13 PM pro choice when both the guy and the woman agree on it.

God loves everyone, except for those who disagree with us.
The Christian Right is ****ing stupid. In fact, more of what they do is based on good old-fashioned bigotry then the Bible that they seem to quote so much. What little does come the Bible is out of context at best and a total misinterpretation at worst. If I wrote a book and someone discovered it in a thousand years, maybe I’d have a religion too. Not only that, if you take a few words from each of my sentences, you can probably make me say anything you want on any subject. Obviously, this faction of Christianity only reads the "God likes to turn people into pillars of salt and unleash plagues of locusts" Old Testament and not the rest of the bible, which as far as I know, preaches love and forgiveness.
As for Kato's question, sort of what bzob said. They commited, stay commited. It's a double edge sword. On one hand your're helping raise money for schools, a group that desperately needs this help and I think that a lunch with the Governor and items from Nugent would bring quite a windfall to your organization, which does great work by the way. On the other hand the group is going against their commitment to Pro-Life work. It's a toughie. Ive heard it said that morals, not money, will save the world.
Bluecifer 02-13-2003, 01:04 PM Uhhhh. If I wasn't pro-choice I'd have little bastards littered all across the countryside. And I think that Kato's org. should have put aside their differences with the Governor and concentrated on doing the most good, which would have been raising money for all those little ****ers.
The Mouse 02-13-2003, 01:33 PM Scenario: 13 y.o. girl gets raped, and becomes pregnant.. should the 13 y.o. girl's life be ruined as she would be forced into motherhood so young? Or would she be allowed to have an abortion, seek justice for her rapist, and go on with her childhood and life?
I'm deffinitely pro-choice.. there's always exceptions to everything.
Catholics are so uptight, I'm not surprised they pulled the Auction Item. They shouldn't have though, the more money you can raise the better.
For the record I'm Pro-Life for myself, I'd never ever have an abortion if I got pregnant.:) Or if I got one of my many mistresses or wife pregnant again, I love kids and would never do that. But I'm pro-choice for everyone else, it's not my place to make decisions for other people. If someone has an abortion that's on them, they have to deal with it.

child birth is almost 100% preventable. If you do not want children use protection. WTF
LukeDothSucketh 02-13-2003, 04:48 PM Rape is only case in my mind. Otherwise it should be illegal.

Bluecifer 02-13-2003, 05:34 PM Using a condom slows me down from pulling my dick out of their ***** and spraying my love potion all over their face, the wall, the ceiling, nearby pets and anything else in a 50ft radius.

Nice.
HockeyFighter 02-13-2003, 07:09 PM Pro choice. Why bring a child into a loveless life.
Nothing is ever 100 percent. Things can be very unlikely but not impossible. So even with protection pregnancy can still happen.
