2swell k-wells 05-09-2007, 01:51 AM save some time..hope ya dont mind.
FIGHTING_FLIP 05-09-2007, 02:10 AM keep your hands up more, punches should go right back in to stance position..not down..punch straigher, hook with your hips and with your legs same goes with your straight right..that gym looks pretty nice wheres that at?
kNIVEK2 05-09-2007, 02:30 AM i havent started boxing yet, but by looking at your bag work, ive noticed that when you throw a hook, you kinda let it stay there a bit on the bag. i think you should bring it back right away after you throw it.
Trick 05-09-2007, 05:06 AM nice work man. I like the others, think that you "hang" a couple of your punches, which you'll want to fix. It also seems as though you struggle with body shots in comparison to headshots. Nice job on the speed bag and rope, try to get a little more speed on the rope (no worries though, I'm shit at both). Out of curiosity, how much do you practice the speed bag? I'm only now starting to pay attention to it.

Tha smaller the speed bag the easier it is to hit it fast... the big ones you have to hit harder, and they are slow
good work on the speed bag, but Id say work more on the heavy bag.. somethin about it didnt look right.. seemed like u were scared ud hurt ur hands if u actuall hit the heavy bag with some pop on ya punches

You are wrapping your hands right?
boxing4ever 05-09-2007, 04:05 PM You are wrapping your hands right?yup i always do
punchDrUnK MONK 05-09-2007, 08:09 PM good work on the speed bag, but Id say work more on the heavy bag.. somethin about it didnt look right.. seemed like u were scared ud hurt ur hands if u actuall hit the heavy bag with some pop on ya punches
i agree with this guy 100%
i dunno it looks like ur a pure boxer from the way u hit the bag, u let off shots in pretty smooth combinations, but there aint no pop in em. it may be a lack of power, or like buddy said above, u jus are afraid to hurt ur hands and smash the bag..
i personally GOT INTOOO boxing smashing the bag, jus dealing with everyday struggles, use to punch my walls in so i bought a heavybag and that started my boxing career a year ago lol...
but my advice to u is,, (Maybe we jus havent seen u do this ... and u HAVE done this b4... but if not,) id say, the next time you get really pissed off about something n shit, go to that heavybag and seriously give it a ****inn ass whoopin, dont think about technical bullshit, tryin to keep hands up, being fast. blah blah blah, im sure u can learn/know a lot or all of that shit already... thats a different time and place to practice..
jus go one on one with the bag. PICK YOUR SHOTS. and land one punch BOMBS, practice that bro.
jus think that, ONE SHOT BOMBS, knockout punches.
like the power punchers do, they walk up slip some jabs maybe eat a few... then throw a jab or two... chill ...
then when ur leaning//rolling the right way into a guy, theres that chance to land that bomb.
i learned that, then how to box a heavybag, and now wow, u throw some flurries like u were in ur vid. Then, BAMMM, start smashing it haha. i love doing that. ill do a lil training tonight on cam to show u what i mean. jus for u dawg.
u look good, ur in my weight too, i think we could spar togather if ur in the area. maybe teach eachother some things n shit.

shawn_ 05-09-2007, 10:43 PM that is bad advice. You should never ignore technique. Never. All you need to do is turn over your punches more. Work on your balance some and get the reach from rotating your shoulders not leaning forward. You looked a little heavy on your feet working the heavy bag, id recomend giving it a good push before you start so you have to work with a moving target, that way you have to use footwork to adjust your distance. You should also work on circling the bag. Alot of people just stand on the same side of the bag when they work it, but you got get the bag swinging and circle around it as you punch. You should also work on doubling up your jab on the bag. Double step circling to your left.
boxing4ever 05-09-2007, 11:28 PM i agree with this guy 100%

boxing4ever 05-10-2007, 09:57 AM ay dawg how old are you?
16 years young
punchDrUnK MONK 05-10-2007, 01:16 PM right now im 165, but my boxing weight is 154/155
and yo to shawn who said i gave bad advice, i know technique is important, but in boxing , while learning boxing and training you gotta work on one thing at a time, if this kid needs work on his power punching he absolutely shouldnt be thinking about technique while practicing it.
he needs to be focused on throwing power punches, that alone.. and practicing putting them into smooth motions off of rolling and bobbing and weaving (left to right), and also learn to put them in combinations...
thats a mistake many guys make, try to think of everything at once, while training and still learning and molding your craft, it helps a ton to work on one thing at a time.
so i completely disagree with shawns disagreement towards my advice
shawn_ 05-10-2007, 02:41 PM Power comes from technique. You might feel like you are hitting hard when you are just sluging away at a bag off balance with no technique, but you arnt hiting nearly as hard as you do with good technique. Its the same as in racing, going fast doesnt mean driving like a maniac and squeeling the tires around every corner. Its the same with boxing. Punching hard doesnt mean swinging wildly off balance as hard as you can.
There is a reason why they say keep your punches short. Power comes from body mechanics and leverage, not winding up your punches and swinging hard with your arms.
