View Full Version : If you don't Take CREATINE or SUPPLEMENTS your missing out!
Domain 05-06-2007, 07:07 PM So many guys out their are above you with the times! and they are taking so many enhancers to help them train...If you don't take any your fooling yourself and just hurting your training in the long run.
Because the next man is taking supps and creatine while you are not.
So he can have the upper hand.
Until they realize that while they're in there gyms getting jacked and cut like diamonds with 10,000 different types of enhancers the poor kid in the gym is working his ass off on a heavy bag. We'll see who gets there shit ****ed up in the ring.
IronNick. 05-06-2007, 08:49 PM please. tell me some more about creatine. give me a review on it.
NewbieRJJ 05-06-2007, 09:02 PM Your ridiculous, creatine isnt going to help your boxing at all, it doesnt make you faster, barely makes you stronger, it just makes you look bigger, so if anything your gunna gain water weight and be slower
BrooklynBomber 05-06-2007, 09:20 PM Creatine helps lifting weight, but it has nothing to do with boxing.
Good stuff if used appropriately. but no relation to boxing training.

um dude, are you ****ing blind? i told you to tell me about creatine. you obviously dont know anything about it since you completely ignored my question.
Darkstranger 05-06-2007, 10:09 PM I used creatine a couple of years ago but I wasn't boxing back then. It didn't add any muscle mass but my power and strength improved quite a bit. I don't know how much of that was the placebo effect of mind over matter. The effect differs from person to person. Gaining strength and power without bulking up is advantageous for boxing and I'm guessing that creatine could help speed as it can improve your explosive power. 100 and 200 metre sprinters would be able to elaborate further on that.

good post
i believe mackie shilstone gave bernard hopkins and cory spinks some creatine with whey shakes so they could add size moving up in weight and strength.
creatine is also good for recovery and to allow the workouts to go on stronger for endurance.
people have a big misconception of creatine.

I was taught to ignore the ignorant.
Darkstranger 05-06-2007, 10:48 PM I think it's widely used by many professional sportsman. The only downside I've heard, although I didn't experience it, is that it can cause muscle cramps. Apparently it's something to do with creatine reducing the amount of water in the muscle fibres. I've heard this statement a few times, but personally I didn't have any problems apart from the pain it caused on my finances. Better for pro sports stars who can afford it and get sponsored by the companies that produce creatine.

If you dont cycle it and use for a while, and i mean like many, many months, than yes, its pretty bad.

yup you need to cycle creatine and drink plenty of water especially when working out, keep yourself hydrated to avoid cramping as well.
the new creatines are much better though.

i wouldnt use creatine if you are under 18 or 21.
yes it helps if you have a balance diet and train hard and are looking to put on strength and size 6-8 weeks is a cycle and then go off it for like 2-3 months the best stuff is probally Gaspari size on you mix this in a water bottle and drink it during your work out so by the end of your work out you should be finished with the drink.

Trick 05-07-2007, 01:00 AM All I have to say is this: Name me a boxer of repute who uses creatine.
fraidycat 05-07-2007, 01:11 AM Creatine supplementation does two things.
First off, it is a muscle cell volumizer. It makes the muscle cells larger by swelling them with water. It is popular among weightlifters and frat-boy meatheads for these reasons: A.) it makes you look bigger and more pumped; B.) the larger muscles increase your available leverage and therefore, yes, make you temporarily stronger.
Secondly, it is a factor in ATP production. ATP is what your body uses to produce muscle energy during short-term, intense exercise. In scientific terms, creatine monohydrate is called an ATP precursor. Creatine increases ATP levels, especially when it is accompanied by carbohydrates.
Creatine is great for hitting the weight stack, not so good for boxing training. I use it on my non-boxing days when I'm lifting.
Off-topic: I've tried NoExplod, and I didn't get anything from it other than a case of road rage and a major headache. I gave mine away.
Because creatine uses water for cell volumization, its side effects include the symptoms of mild dehydration: cramps, constipation, & headache. To offset this, you have to drink a lot -- a LOT -- of water. For me, at 176 lbs, I need to drink a half gallon of water EXTRA per day to keep this from happening. That's on top of the half gallon I drink during my workout and my 3-4 glasses a day "normal" intake. How much weight does all that water add? Enough to bump me up a weight class.
Because it requires short-chain carbs for transport, it means you have to throw it back with 8 oz. of fruit juice, the sweeter the better. Grape juice is recommended. That's 150 calories, folks. That's 15 minutes on the treadmill at an easy jog, or 5-6 sets of skipping rope. By the time you've burned off the calories, chances are good that the ATP production benefits from creatine will be gone. No amount of creatine supplementation (at least, no amount you could safely take) would sustain you through an honest boxing workout. For me, a boxing workout is 90 minutes, and when I'm working, I'm at 80% of my max heart rate, for 3-minute rounds with 1-minute breaks. And I know some of you work out harder than I do.
A daily dose of creatine might get you through an amateur bout. Maybe.
All that said, strength in the ring is nothing that technique can't compensate for. I have had my ass handed to me too many times by people I can outrun, outbench, out-arm-wrestle, etc. My job requires physical strength and I enjoy being physically powerful. My boxing style relies on explosive power and big punches. So I lift weights and I supplement, but it's more for strength outside the ring than for boxing. I know plenty of guys who box exceptionally well who don't lift weights and don't supplement.
Creatine supplementation as essential for boxing? I don't buy it. Getting your ass kicked by a guy just because he supplements? Bullshit. Utter bullshit.
Hourglass 05-07-2007, 01:30 AM Pssht. I do just fine on my own. Turn anger into motivation and its like being on a constant adrenaline rush at the gym...i've got a friend whos into all that stuff and he hasn't impressed me yet, hes been taking it and working out for just as long as I have been doing my own thing (about 5 years). He still cant keep up!:boxing:
Motivation goes a long way.
I guess creatine is great if you want to bump up a weight class as said above me, with that said I still dont think i'd use it less I was really in a rut and couldn't add weight even after tons of hard work or if it was a rush to meet a weight. Thats just me though.
Domain 05-07-2007, 01:31 AM All I have to say is this: Name me a boxer of repute who uses creatine.
I am not a name dropper. But ishe smith uses it.
Trick 05-07-2007, 01:37 AM I wouldn't call him a great, my point is look at all the best out there, do they use creatine or not? The answer is no, they became the best, probably beating a number of meatheads on it, without it.
Golden-Gloves 05-07-2007, 01:58 AM Creatine is garbage for Boxing.. It retains water in the muscles, causing them to swell up and become tense, this will effect your speed and endurance, the only thing you will gain from creatine is power, but is it worth your speed and endurance, nope..
Ok thanks for info!
Next question, I started doing weights and going to the gym to loose some weight and gain some muscle. If Creatine causes muscle to get bigger due to water in the muscles, you would put on weight. However will it effect weight loss as in FAT loss. I have already gone from 90kg to 79kg in last 3 months I still have more to loose off my gut, and I was thinking of using Creatine to give me more strenght and power to push harder at the gym. I am 31 and I stand 176cm tall. The Boxing I am doing is only sparring and it's just to learn to box and stay fit, I am not going Ameteur or anything.
What do you guy's think?
DMC:boxing:
RunW/Knives 05-07-2007, 03:44 AM I think of that shit like the guy who buys a fancy set of golf clubs for thousands of dollars but ends up just flat out sucking at golf.

I never picked a bottle up I dont know. and how does steroids work, does it make u have alot of energy so u work harder?therefore gaining more muscle?
Golden-Gloves 05-07-2007, 05:21 AM If your lifting weights and trying to put on size, creatine is great..
If your a serious amateur or professional boxer, creatine is strait garbage
WolfOnTheHill 05-07-2007, 10:38 AM I started useing maximuscle over a month ago, anyone heard of this and know if its any good, i cant really notice a differance
BrooklynBomber 05-07-2007, 10:42 AM and when did i ever say there was creatine in it?:cool2:
because there is, foo.
danny stash 05-07-2007, 11:45 AM former weight lifter turned boxer. Creatine saturates your cells with water allowing them to grow faster and larger due to cell volumization or in laymens (spelling) terms, hydration. As a boxer I dont see the advantages by using it. But one supplement i will reco is omega 3 fish oil as it lubes the joints up to be able to take the constant repitive punishment. Hope this helps.
Darkstranger 05-07-2007, 12:01 PM I started useing maximuscle over a month ago, anyone heard of this and know if its any good, i cant really notice a differance
Yeah thats what I used to use. A lot of people say it adds muscle mass, I found that it didn't, and I've got the kind of genes that bulks up easily. It gave me a lot of extra power and strength. I wasn't using it for boxing back then, I was using it for the shot putt in athletics, so it can give you an extra edge in that kind of sport.
In terms of boxing, it won't make anyone a better figher.

who told you that?
NewbieRJJ 05-07-2007, 06:52 PM Never heard such a thing, i drink a shake almost everyday
Domain 05-07-2007, 10:27 PM could someone explain why you should take couple month gaps from using protein drinks every so often
? you can drink protien shakes everyday as long as its no more then 3.
but you have to cycle off creatine cause it can have its toll on your liver and kidneys.

Creatine does increase ya power and strength i took it for about 6month straight a few years back during football training camp myself and noticed a big improvment in my strength, stamnia, energy, and athleticism... i went from being able to lift 185 pounds only like 5-6times to hitting 225 a solid 10 times after the 4 thmonth or so1 i also trained everyday, it improved my speed and took me from about 11% body fat to 8%
