It's not to everyones taste, and to the untrained ear it may seem like a lot of ramble, but when you listen to the very best rappers, it would be very unfair to call it unskilled. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I can appreciate that these people are talented. It's a form of musical poetry almost.

As for the white people who follow it, that's a different subject, but music is for everyone.

rap to me is a way to express yourself freely to the world.....yeah some are stunters.....some are killers....but some like myself like to use the music to try to reach a troubled teen because face it this day and age there are millions of troubled kids that are capable of doing major damage...as we've witnessed at VT...

To be perfectly honest, I agree. But I would never have said so. That's just plain classless and mean.

Artist: MF Doom (Madvillain)
Album: Madvillainy
Song: All Caps
Typed by:

source:www.ohhla.com

So nasty that it's probably somewhat of a travesty
Having me daily telling people
You can call me Your Majesty
Keep your battery charged
You know it won't stick, yo
And it's not his fault you kick slow

Should've let your trick 'ho chick hold your sick glow
Plus nobody couldn't do nothin' once he let the brick go
And you know I know that's a bunch of snow
The beat is so butter
Peep the slow cutter

As he utters the calm flow
Don't talk about my moms, yo
Sometimes he rhyme quick, sometimes he rhyme slow
And vice versa
Whip up a slice of nice verse pie
Hit it on the first try
Villain: The Worst Guy

Spot hot tracks like spot a pair of fat asses
Shots of the scotch from out of square shot glasses
And he won't stop 'till he got the masses
An' show 'em what they know now through flows of hot molasses

Do it like a robot to headspin to boogaloo
Took a few minutes to convince the average bug-a-boo
It's ugly, like look at you! It's a damn shame
Just remember All Caps when you spell the man name

And you know it like a poet, like baby doll
I bet she tried to say she gave me her all, she played ball
All bets off! The Villain got the dice rigged
And they say he accosted the man with the sliced wig

Allegedly; the investigation is still ongoing
In this pesky inition he gots the best con flowin'
The pot doubles, now they really got troubles
Madman never go *pop*!, like snot bubbles

Actually my favorite musicians of all time are J.S. Bach, followed by G.F. Handel and Tomasso Albinoni. I don't even believe you are a classical music enthusiast, i think your a disgruntled rock fan ( I have never known a real classical music fan that would waste his time with these kinds of statements).
Well here is a fact my friend. The most intelligent rap music lyrics are far smarter than the most intelligent rock music lyrics you can find.

I agree with this part of your statment.

You were doing so well until you stated rap lyrics are always smarter than rock lyrics being a fact. Come on, there are plenty of dumbass rockers and rappers. But who really cares at the end of the day?

I like the music I listen to so much that I don't care what other people are listening to. I know what is right for me and I don't need to convince someone else to feel the same as I do.

lol actually I continued to do well. What I said was that THE MOST intelligent rap music lyrics are far smarter than THE MOST intelligent rock music lyrics, not that rap music lyrics are "always" smarter. In other words, I judge a medium by what it is capable of at it's height.

Maybe in the past, one could argue this. But now...rap's changing. wit hthe emergence of "backpack" and underground rap, you're seeing a lot more intelligent rappers. Some of these songs and metaphors are complex. Yeah, a lot of songs, especially the ones that get a lot of radio play, are pretty simplistic. But that doesn't change the fact that there are true lyricists out there who can put together some amazing songs.

I never "got" rock music. There's some stuff I like, and I can see what part of it appeals to people...it's just not me. But I don't come on here talking **** saying rock is for long-haired freaks who drink blood and worship the devil do I? No, because that would just be dumb.

Intelligent rap predates the backpackers by years and years. You are right about people getting their impression of rap from the radio.

You're right...it was kind of a cycle. When east coast rap was huge and rap was just starting, it was a lot of intelligent, revolutionary ****. KRS One, Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash...But once rap makes its way to the west coast it becomes more about partying and stuff like that...eventually the south takes over, dumbs rap down even more...But now underground and backpack rap is becoming big and rap is becoming more intelligent, like it used to be.
