What do you think Nas needs to do become the greatest rapper of all time?

I think he needs to release one more near classic/classic album and he's done it.

Here's his albums split up into categorys:

Classic
Illmatic
Stillmatic
Hip Hop Is Dead (I think it'll age well and will be considered as classic in the future)

Near Classic
It Was Written
Lost Tapes

Solid
God's Son
I Am
Streets Disciple (Critics have canned it but I think it's a good double album and could have been great if it didn't have so many filler songs on it)

Average
Nastradamus

As you can see Nas has a great discography and is definitely in the top 5. The question is what does he need to do to be number 1 in your eyes?

I think you're dead right about Hip Hop is Dead - it's one of the best album's I've ever heard. Nas is the greatest of all time, I think you're right.

He's a God MC and there's nothing much more he can possibly do.

Thinking about it, he might actually be my number one already. I'm gonna have to review my ratings :D

I already believe he's the best out and maybe the greatest ever. The only person I hold in higher regard is Pac. But Nas has a lot of great albums. He always gives you a different vibe with each album.

I just don't think enough people realize how talented he is. I honestly don't see anyone out better than him from what I heard off his last album. I thought Hip Hop is Dead was a great album. Really Street's disciple was kind of a let down but this album ****s all over that one.

I'll keep it simple...

Nasir Jones IS the greatest rapper ever.

- Lyrically almost unmatched
- His catalogue of work surpasses even Tupac's
- Never dropped a wack album
- Is the longest active rapper today still dropping hits next to LL Cool J
- No rapper has come near his creativity. Most original songs of any artist.
- While many songs are mainstream, his essence is still the grimey kind of rap which spawned him
- Can switch his flow any which way possible

Nasty Nas is the greatest.

I feel you and I agree. He's got arguably the greatest discography ever and he's so talented it's unbelievable. He's also kept to putting thought into his songs and using his incredible lyrics. He hasn't dumbed down to make more cash like you know who.

His last album was great and probably my favourite of 2006.

Just been listening to Street's Disciple and I don't think it's half as bad as some people make out. If any other rapper had made that album, it would've been considered a really good double album but I guess Nas is a victim of his own high standards.

No I liked Street's Disciple except for a few song it was solid. I'm just sayin that Hip Hop Is Dead is on another level. I thought it was clearly the best album that came out last year.

Oh right, I agree totally.

I actually thought that Hip Hop Is Dead was gonna be Nas' turn at throwing out the club **** Hova has been feeding us but I was real happy when I first heard it.

I honestly thought the majority of this forum had Pac or Rakim as their number one. People seem to be turning to Nasty Nas.

Jeezy sold more. THREAD CLOSED.

And?

Just because one artist sells more than another artist doesn't mean he is a better rapper than them.

A lot of people are interested in Nas, especially compared to the amount of people who care about the "Dirty South".

Obviously enough ppl care there on the radio, requests bet, mtv, billboard charts. SOooooo YEAH. and to me interest shows by actually buying the album and putting up good sales.Dont tell me every1 was broke the first month his album was out.

Nas actually outsold Jeezy in his first week and debuted number one. Without radio play. I like Jeezy but he makes specifically club music. Which Nas doesn't do and doesn't try to throw himself at the mainstream. Nas could easily drop a club banger and be successful he's done it before.
