View Full Version : Matt Hughes/Matt Serra coaches on TUF 6?:S 2swell k-wells 04-25-2007, 11:05 AM hey Did anyone else hear that Matt Serra and Matt Hughes are gon be the coaches for the next ultimate fighter? they start filming next month. RunW/Knives 04-25-2007, 01:24 PM I'm 100 percent sure Serra will be the Tito type coach who's a little bit more down to Earth and Hughes will be the Shamrock who took the time to act like a drill instructor and yell at his guys. Hughes team will lose big. Theory X management simply doesn't work in this day and age, Theory Y is where it's at motivating others through positive reinforcement as opposed to punishment for non perfection. punchDrUnK MONK 04-25-2007, 01:51 PM matt serra is an amazing coach. OBVIOUSLY. he runs his own ju jistsu place. he trains tons of fighters in the ufc. hes been in the coaching game for a long long time. id prolly say hes a better coach then he is a figghter. i hate matt hughes, i hope his team gets eaten, and then i hope serra knocks him out when they fight. matt hughes doesnt deserve to be on this show, and doesnt deserve a title shot. Harms 04-25-2007, 01:56 PM Yeah, I think Serra took over in the last season as coach and his team did extremely well. He has that distinctive voice that you can't help but hear when he is yelling instructions to fighters. living_legend 04-25-2007, 04:41 PM wasn't matt hughes a coach before....why bring him back? 2swell k-wells 04-25-2007, 04:50 PM they seem to get coaches of guys that are gon fight after the finale, Chuck and Couture, Shamrock and tito, Pulver and penn for example. Hughes coached along with franklin but i think they had fights on the ppv afterwards. Hughes was is a hardass coach, Serra dont have that pissed off style like Hughes, I like Serra's style of coaching he dont have to humiliate his guys to get better like Hughes does. MBL 04-25-2007, 10:48 PM jesus! there flogging this title run a bit arnt they? its not like Serra will hold it for long Hughes is back to his boring best, would be too powerful for Serra on the ground, very very boring match up Id rather see Penn Vs Hughes 3 expect to hear from Serra alot: HAMMAFIST!! BJ Penn and GSP are still the best imho Atnan 04-25-2007, 10:54 PM hughes is gonna try and do what he does best, lay n pray.....do you honestly think this guy is gonna be able to teach any kind of stand up? LOL....let alone a game plan that works..... hughes is no ****ing trainer... MR. V 04-25-2007, 11:06 PM . Hughes coached along with franklin . they were supposed to fite each other but didnt cuz they said they were friends. but thats all bullshit cuz i know rich would of fought but matt probably didnt want to cuz he would of got his ass served. :boxing: 2swell k-wells 04-26-2007, 12:54 PM they were supposed to fite each other but didnt cuz they said they were friends. but thats all bullshit cuz i know rich would of fought but matt probably didnt want to cuz he would of got his ass served. :boxing: really now:s:S but they are in 2 different weight classes. Rich Franklin as a WW would jus..be..wrong haha. I know Matt Hughes was at 205 for awhile until Tito dominated him at wrestling but I dont think that wouldve went down. Its dumb how fighters dont want to fight because of friendship. I mean **** i wanted to see Rashad vs Kieth Jardine 2 but they refused dammit. IncuFan 04-26-2007, 01:18 PM I'm 100 percent sure Serra will be the Tito type coach who's a little bit more down to Earth and Hughes will be the Shamrock who took the time to act like a drill instructor and yell at his guys. Hughes team will lose big. Theory X management simply doesn't work in this day and age, Theory Y is where it's at motivating others through positive reinforcement as opposed to punishment for non perfection. Yeah your right it seems now a days that Theory Y works the best. Even though there are some people that have to be motivated by you yelling at them. My dad has been a coach for about 20 years now in Baseball and football. In the early days of his coaching he yelled a lot more and got in kids faces and motivated them through yelling a lot more, but know he has completely changed. He still yells and all that, but not much. He is more positive and is more like a coach who is also your friend. It works for him now and definitely seems to be the way now a days to coach and get good results. punchDrUnK MONK 04-26-2007, 01:44 PM hughes was a coach in season 3 i think against rich franklin. the season with joe stevenson and luke cummo(matt serr coaches him) , and rashad evans n shit.. but yeah they brought him back cuz he is fighting, they want more drama on that show... but i still dont agree with hughes getting a title shot. sure he beat chris lytell, but george st piere still clearly kicked the shit out of hughes. basiclly both times they fought. so if hughes wins the belt. it will be a joke, and only be for a fight or two til he fights st piere or some other stand up beast... i think serra can knock hughes out tho, lets hope that happens; vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
