View Full Version : Boxing Theories: The Best

A thread has been started regarding theories that best predict the winner of a fight.

Adopting an old joke, I think that the best theory has been designed by the Harvard physicists. They have spent a multi-million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation in order to develop a splendid model. This model can finally shed some light on the matter:

The model consists of two spherical boxers (balls) fighting (hitting each other) in a vacuum. The spherical boxer (ball) with a higher mass always wins!

Dude, I'm lost by this thread (although very interesting) but is that Tatu in your avatar?

Tatu it is. Being lost is fine. I feel that most of the time.

As fascinating as it is (and it is) I'm sitting here feeling pretty stupid. :o

Listen carefully to everything Nautilus says. He is brilliant.

Nautilus is asking what are the best theories of predicting the winner of a fight.

He believes the best theory has been designed by MIT physicists. I think the best way to see who wins a fight is to ask a child. They have a very pure heart, and they will know and feel what will happen!

Too nerdy I guess.

This was a remake of a joke about a model of a spherical horse winning a race in a vacuum.

(The most useless model one can think of.)

As fascinating as they are all these theories are useless in the real life. They are only made for the ideal settings of the fight(like you have to be sure that your phisical condition in round 1 should b on one expected level and condition in round 6 on another expected level, whch is impossible in sports of boxing) and don't include things like determination ot mental toughness or even luck( i dont mean lucky punches). So this theories are only made by very smart people that are very bored

Yes. Angels have nearly perfect forecasting record.
