Why are all rappers idiots AWAY from the mic? Like Busta or Nas for example....

Please give an example?Nas is a very smart articulate man I don't know what you are reffering to or why you would say this....besides there are many, many dumbasses I would consider before calling those two dumb asses.

When they talk in interviews they don't come off as too bright yet their rhymes are out of this world.

Nahm'sayin every 2 words..................**** like that.

I don't know if I would say ALL rappers are idiots away from the mic.

Especially with the popularity of backpack/underground rap on the rise, you're getting a lot more intelligent MCs, both on record and off.

I'll admit Wayne is a ****ing tool out of the studio. Getting caught with drugs and other ****, but this must mean a lot of others are the same. I've seen Wayne videos of him on the bus with Young Money and he seems pretty relaxed, but he's still infront of the camera...

Nas is a very smart articulate man.

No he is not...hes one of my favorite rappers but dude sounds like a slow fool in interviews. He cant even complete a full thought when he speaks, but when he gets on the mic he flows genius. Just doesn't make sense. He is most definitely intelligent but he is far from articulate. Rappers cant speak all the way through a sentence without a "nah mean".

I agree with this thread as I've spoken on this issue before...Puffy, Raekwon and Ghostface also sound like inbred elementary school dropouts when they speak.

Its easier to name the rappers who DO sound intelligent when speaking than those who don't. LL Cool J, Tupac, Big Pun are/were all well spoken people...

I think it's just magnified more because their on television. If you listen to your self you probably have those same little tendencies. I know plenty of people who say "you know" or "like" or "a" in every sentence. It's just when you pay close attention to it it's annoying.

Yes it's like I said, they "think in rhyme". That is what happens when you grow up on hip hop with deep lyrics but your everyday conversation isn't deep. The rhymes you write become complex but your every day conversation stays simple. Even Common was only kind of articulate when he was on Oprah yesterday. Krs-One holds the award though.

Nah man, they don't think in rhyme. They think like the rest of us. Thats like saying Ralph Waldo Emerson couldn't speak well because he only thought in rhyme. Its just something they do, if anything being able to rhyme off the top of your head should make regular speech a walk in the park. A lot of rappers are inarticulate likely due to having minimal of education, matched with a limited amount of sophistication on top of that.

I don't mean they think about everything in rhyme, I mean they think deeper thoughts in rhyme. The only time many of them are exposed to deep thoughts are in rhyming and in Hip Hop.They don't have everyday conversations on the street about deep things.
