aiight..

im workin on my abs like crazy cuz i believe that a good pair of abs n worked out body. sides and center, will protect body shots, and is essential for boxers who wanna fight amatuer or pro.

this is my ab workout right now, im jus starting off my training . i dunno how often i should do situps n **** but heres my schedule:

100 sits a night.
ab roller (aka excercise wheel) 4 nights a week, 100 times.

and some times i go crazy n do like 150-200 sit ups sometimes, out of the 100 i do a lot of twisting , side to side sit ups, i dunno, any other kind really hurt my back, thats why i bought the exercize wheel. they have a good rep anyone use them???

what do yall think of my ab workouts

i barely run i know i need to start, but without running will all my ab work payoff ?

It a good start but sit ups alone wont work. Try some of these moves out. I always rest at least 1 or 2 days after ab work.

Well dude My workout regimen is a bit different I do a few sit ups on the decline plank with the medicine ball, and then I top it of with the ab wheel and a few different ab routines it does wonders for me, I can take them body shots and not even flinch. I think the ab roller is the best since it works out your entire upper body

Well iv only ever done situps and crunches and i have formed some decent abs, im also wondering how good is the ab roller? has anyone really noticed a big difference with the ab roller compared to situps.

Remember to work your back as well, or you could run into back problems eventually. Especially in boxing. You need a good strength balance.

Try to remember, your stomach muscles are the first ones to plateau

Ab roller is really tough on the back.. atleast for me...

Crunches and alot of runing have proven the best ab work-out for me.. crunches do the work and running does a lil work but makes it show more than the crunches because of fat loss... understand that?

I have seen a machine at the gym in which it's a sort of ab lounge except your using weights as well? Does this help out the abs a lot or would I be wasting some time?

(I'm trying to upgrade my 4 to an 6 maybe an 8 if possible. I got hardly any body fat on my body anymore after the draining from 172 to 140 from the past months and now I can see the entire area of where my abs are suppose to be but I have to get the others to show exactly..)

If the ab roller hurts is hard on your back, it's because you're not strong enough in your abs to hold the correct position. Or you're just doing it wrong. You have to contract your abs, so your back is slightly rounded and hold it that way throughout the movement. If you do that, it won't hurt, or affect, your back at all.

A good exercise, for boxing and bodypunch resistance, is having someone pumping a medball into your stomach. You can see Calzaghe doing it with 20 seconds left in this clip:

I use it with my fighters a lot.

Hmmm thanx Maybe your right... But i've been working my abs for ever...

I can do upside ETC.... the chance that they are not strong enough might be slight because I've even dropped weight from 200 to 170-165 now.... but I'll see if your right.. Thanx for the help.. -- Catas

p.s. i have the T'V. ab roller.. not the Wheel alone.. it has lil springs in it that help ya contract... stole it from da moms house lol.. you think that affects it?

Wait, I'm getting confused... What is the ab roller?

is it this one? http://www.asontv.com/products/1057008692.html

Or this? http://www.t-nation.com/assets/images/96jackknifemid.jpg

I was talking about the latter...

If that's you in your avatar, then yeah, you look like you should be strong enough to do it, at least on your knees. Maybe it's a matter of technique. Anyway try it out, I'm sure you can do it the right way.

If you want more than 4 to show, it is mostly a matter of BF%. Although you may think you're lean, obviously you've got a little more to lose.

For bigger abs, heavy squats, deadlifts, snatches, cleans and full contact twist are second to none. If you've ever seen a lower weight Olympic weightlifter, you'll know they got the thickest abs of steel, you'll ever see. As an added bonus, those exercises also give you overall bodystrength.

How can you check your body fat %?
