u dont gotta rate me off that, its jus up to view. i know its shit. its nothing special. but i aint shit, at least from the amount of training ive had... NONE. never been in a gym, taught myself everything i know, i just have been boxing to get in shape, n stamina, now i can go 12 rounds on heavybag or double ended bag, and its a great workout. i love it, i wanna fight amatuers. all im looking for is positive feedback and advice...
im from hamilton ontario canada matt...

and azza man, if u aint got no positive feedback or advice, u can bring ur hate elsewhere man, i could care less what u got to say

ya you are 100% right, negative feedback ios good cuz it will help u fix ur problems. but when a guy jus says UR SHIT, or u suck or ur wack. w/e type of small bullshit like that, its nothing i can use to get better. so if u truly think im shit in that vid, tell me why, whats the shit rating based on? i show hand speed, i admit i dont move my head enough, my room is small as **** i cant work my footwork it sucks... i know i barely power punch in this vid, do no bobbing and weaving, mainly just straight punches and small combinations..

Couple of points. Theres quite a few you need to go to a trainer to learn properly.

Make sure your hands come back to your guard quickly, dont leave them having about, even if your doing combos.

Stand at an angle, not square

04-11-2007, 04:29 PM
alright thats soemthing i noticed i needed to work on, bringing my hands back to guard after throwing...

ill take what u said and run with it. i cant wait to get training properly, im a sponge to the boxing game. i just basiclly have been doing it myself for one reason: to get in good shape. so then when im in the gym with trainers and sparring n training, ill be in pretty good shape to last through out the workouts and show them i got a huge heart n will never die in there

plz more feedback would be so respected, ill give points jus for feedback!

thanks matt

Cheers for the points man it's really not neccesary though man seriously. You dont need to pay for advice.

I don't box, but I know the basics and can point basics out to you. Other than that someone more learned then me needs to help.

You should stick to learning the jab and cross for now and getting good at that I would imagine.

Trust me, when you go to a club I think they'll sort you out properly, theres a few problems there.

When you going?

well as far as my offense, it needs work. i can throw a mean right hand. and left hook upstairs and down.. right uppercuts too. my jab needs work. and my combinations, ill try to get video's showing more of what i got, and liek one thing at a time. ill be training tonight ,so ill upload some more..

and i been looking at gyms in my town now for the past 2-4 weeks, narrowed it down to 2-3 i want to check out and check prices.. then august/sept ill be starting at the gym, and by 2008 hopefully start amatuers. but im willing to wait if im not ready

Well don't let everyone make you think that's SHIT, it's not shit, but I'd get into the gym. Your technique isn't so hot, but you do have decent handspeed, and depending on how much that bag weighs, some decent power (although you seem to be pushing your punches a little bit). It's a respectable job for someone who hasn't been to a gym before. But I'd get to a gym man, otherwise, you'll develop some bad habits that are very hard to fix.

You're from Hamilton eh? No shit, I'm from Oakville, but I go to school at Western. Where in Hamilton are you? If you're close to Dundas, I'd look up Regency Boxing in Dundas, it's good a pretty good rep. I'll be moving to Dundas in a few months, and I'll prolly be goin' there.

Either way man, try to get yourself in a gym, you won't regret it.
Peace,

Way to square....
Bring handds back to your face after punching....

Turn your punches over....
Extend your punches...
Don't put your weight on your front foot...

dont have both hands out at the same time...
Tuck your chin...
Weave, Do not swing....
Good

Hand speed looks decent...

Punches are in bunches... stamina looks ok from no training at all...

A+ on the will to box.. Stick with it.

As far as technique advice goes, that basically sums it up, that, and what Matt said. But just to emphasize what I said before, remember that you can't learn this shit over the net, so no matter what we tell you, you gotta get into a gym.

EDIT: Haha, thanks for the points bro, but they're not needed. If I have points to everyone that's given me advice on these forums, I wouldn't have shit, haha.

Looks like you've gotten good advice here. I'd just add that you want to keep your elbows down next to your body. Your handspeed looked good and you had some headmovement which was good. Also while you still need work bringing your hands back you did better at that then some i've seen here.

04-11-2007, 05:18 PM
thanks doc. ur right gotta keep those elbows and arms in to block that body, i def didnt do that on this video well at all..

and yeah i know me giving points is a little much.. but ill do it this time only cuz this is my first video up and i really need the feedback and advice, so i truly dont mind. points are nothing to me, boxing knowledge and advice is what i need.

thanks again to everyone who gave me feedback, i gave u all 5 star ratings and points. for the rest who reply to this vid ill do the same. for now im off to eat a small dinner, (trying to lose some pounds), and then ill be doing 12 rounds tonight on my heavybag, im gunna try to record every round, but my cam doesnt have much mem so that might be a problem...

but ill come back online tonight to add those vids from tonight, im gunna use all the advice i was given, i actually copy and pasted it all into a notepad file so i can truly work on it and remember it all.

ill come back online tonight, post the new oens up and give points n ratings to the new posters in this thread if there is any.

thanks again to everyone. this site is the fkin best

peace guys

Still, the best advice you can get is to get to a gym, get a trainer. Your whole punching technique is all wrong. You have to have a trainer show you the dynamics of punching.

Yeh my points (which wont be the best cause im learning aswell)

Your standing really really square. I could only tel you were orthodox cause u were jabbing with your left hand, sort out your stance and you look better.

Your hands are in funny places at times. Guard your face, both your hads are up but it looks as if your whole face would be visible if i was standing infront of you and if you fight an experienced boxer his jab will be hitting you all night.

Move around a bit more, although this may be because of the small room.

As for that your looking good enough for no training!!

I have also trained myself. And for you training yourself and bragging about that performance is nothing more than embarassing.

If you want feedback, you've got it. Don't throw combinations for more than 2 seconds because you'll get knocked the hell out. Leaving a glove over the right side of your face isn't going to protect your left side, or your chain, if you're going to throw, then stick and cover up. I know you were hitting a bag, but if your defense is like that in the ring, you need some help in that individual department.

lol well yea thanks for the feedback everyone . good and bad. and ya i aint scared to put a video up here, lol, i know this website has tons of boxing fans who all have different opinions but i respect them all

and for the guy who was sayin i was bragging, i wasnt at all. i even said it was shit, how is that bragging lol. it was only a 5 minute clip, nothing special.. i jus finished editting my 10 round training session, ill have all rounds up n a thread posted soon for a deeper look at me as a boxer.

i agree when i throw combos i leave huge openings cuz i drop both hands, but thats when i extend my shots, if i throw short punches i am better defensively. you will see a bit more short punches in the 10 round workout. but yeah i got LOADS to learn, and most of my problems i am already aware of, but jus the face that other ppl see them n tell me makes me think about em more n hopefully ill fix some problems as my videos progress.

im sure a month in a gym n ill be a changed fighter.

and in sparring or an actual fight i would never throw conbos like i do in training. obviously thats a huge mistake, 2-3 punch combos tops, unless the guy is hurt n covering up, i take risks, i aint scared to get hit.. but im jus a rookie learning..

thanks to everyone for replying im overwelmed by the feedback

That's the only real probably I see is when you're leaving your face and body open when throwing combinations, just try to throw and snap them off quicker so you can cover up quicker too. Besides that, looks good.
