View Full Version : OK boys, let's admit it, Ronaldo is king.

And I'm not talking about the fat Brazilian. Cristiano is on a level all his own. No one can touch him. Roma retreated in fear of him.

Sure he's a prima donna, but also the best player in the world by a landslide.

Raging Bull, Micky and the others know my sympathies are with them, but we should all swallow our pride and lick the Portugese's balls. Let's be men enough. Post here if you agree.

But he's the king, though, right Matty? You can't hold the WC against him forever. He was doing what he had to for his country. But now is club time and he's carrying his club accordingly.

C'mon boys come in here and say it. I don't love the guy, I'm just accepting what I see.

If I had my druthers it would be Rooney showing that kind of form, but it ain't.

Ahhh boy it kills me to say it but Gerrard is not on the same level right now. In the longterm he's more reliable, and a better captain and leader, but Gerrard does not strike fear into teams the way Ronaldo does. Today's performance was brilliant.

I get what you're saying and Ronaldo is in the form of his life but let's see how long it lasts. I don't think he will be consistent enough to be rated as the best in the world and a lot of people are only saying he's the best because it's what the newspapers say.

We'll see next season

I don't read many newspapers on soccer, but I watch games. Sure part of it is intimidation. His first goal was on reputation: the defender retreated and probably shat in his silk Italian thong.

In England the media have a new darling every month and for the past few months its been Ronaldo and he's gone from the most hated figure in the country to one of the most loved, partly because of the papers.

And yes, his first goal was excellent!

He had a hand in everything. The defense was torn apart by his movement, dribbling, and passing. Rooney has been reduced to an onlooker, though his contribution was respectable today.

I haven't seen Kaka much this year, so maybe I am overstating the 'best in the world' status.

C'mon Matty he didn't do much, he helped petition for a card. I didn't like it but that's not cheating.

I admit he's an amazing player and has been United's best player this season by far but I just don't buy this 'best in the world' ****e.

Watch him. That's an incredible player right there!

Kaka's brilliant, but as I told you Fox never shows Milan on their Italian evening and ESPN (who carries CL over here) caters to the pro-British crowd.

I suppose if you compare him to who was last regarded as the best player in the World in Ronaldinho then you have to say that currently Ronaldo is playing how Ronaldinho used to therfore there is an argument for him being the best.
Certainly he has been the best player attacking player in the Premiership and Kaka has been the best attacking player in Serie A but as an overall footballer I still dont see anyone better that Steven Gerrard.
For me they are the best three around currently but if I was put on the spot I would have to just give the edge to Ronaldo based on form especially when you look how well the red ****e are doing this season!

Sorry RB but I have to agree with Kayjay on this.

Having watched Gerrard, Kaka and Ronaldo numerous times this season I have to begrudgingly admit that Ronaldo is the best around at the min.

He seems to have matured not just in his own ability but as a team player, he seems to release the ball more often enough in the right area at the right time and he has stepped up and excepted responsibility as the talisman for United.
Kaka is superb but floats in and out of games, Gerrard for me is best all round player in the World but this season has at times looked jaded although he has hit form in recent months and is again breathtaking week in week out.

Ronaldo returned from the World cup and hit form and stayed there and has hardly had a average game all season, the only poor games I can recall were the recent Liverpool and Portsmouth games, other than that he has been superb.

I am now going to wash my mouth out with soap!:( :( :(

I will never compliment Ronaldo, he is a cheat. The english public are too quick to forgive him for robbing us of a world cup semi final. He dives in every match, even if its a friendly. The best player in England at the moment is Diomansy Kamara, he will be prem top scorer next season.

But Cristiano Ronaldo is only 21. Now hes stopped the constant step overs and is playing a team game he is probably the best in the world.

Fox has an entire channel devoted to it, The Fox Soccer Channel. ESPN shows CL and our domestic league. I never watch the MLS because I can watch the EPL instead.

Haven't you noticed there are about fifteen Yank regulars in the EPL now? We're one of the best represented countries in that league.

Seems the players and the PFA all agree with this thread! To win both the Young Player and Player of the year in the same season is extremely impressive and rare!

Not sure about some of the players in the Premiership 11 though! Half the team is ****in Man Utd!!!

They have had a good season but so have Chelsea, people seem to forget that while Man U are chasing the Treble, Chelsea after winning the League Cup are chasing the quadruple! (Obviously I hope they don't do it!)

First player to do it since Andy Gray :lol1:

It was between him and Scholes for me, with Carragher third. But guess what, he wasn't even in the top five :nonono: He didn't even make the ****ing XI.

Finnan should be right back too. Nice to see Berbatov getting some recognition.

It'll be interesting to see who wins the title, cos if Drogba has more impact than Ronaldo in the crucial game at SB it'll change things. I said after 15 or so games that I would think if Chelsea won the league, Drogba shuld be player of the year, and Ronaldo if united won.

Both have had top notch seasons and would make world XI's right now.

Along with Ashley Cole they are the only players in the EPL who would make it right now (sorry Gerrard-lovers). And Cech once he's back to top form, Ferdinand and Terry would also be close.

I don't think Ferdinand would make it. And at the moment I'd have Giggs on the left.

Also, name a better right back than Neville or Finnan.
