I say go in ASAP. You can always make up missed work because your health is your primary concern.

I went to my class and told my teacher what happened and why i missed my first class with him he told me i was insane for comming to class and that my wellbeing is more important that some class notes.
it is a criminal justice class (organized crime and the drug business) he informed me that i went above and beyond the call and then demanded hat i leave and go to the hospital so i'm off.

Don't move your shoulder around dammit! You have to keep it immoblized or you'll aggravate the injury. Go get some more ice Ben.

if i do everything right i can be back in a week but i will most likely have to have a follow up with a specialist.

You will still need to be careful, and probably keep exercising your rotator cuffs (ask for rotator cuff exercises, especially if they don't give them to you).
But you should be ok.
