View Full Version : Mediterranean Europe
OptimusWolf 04-04-2007, 05:06 PM Ok I run the risk of sounding a bit racist here, but everything I've seen of mediterranean Europe leads me to believe it is a backward, dirty, lazy part of the world that lives off EU handouts and protection.
I can't stand the way the Italian police behave towards English fans when they seem to be unable to do much about the violent gangs that KILL police officers in their own country. I have little sympathy for the English guys who think that because some Roma fans provoke them they can charge into them, but the police did nothing to stop bottles being thrown etc on the other side.
They're the most ineffective police force in Europe led by the most corrupt government with the most apathetic electorate who only care about "studying" till they are 30 and living with mama whilst making clothes that the chinese can do better and cheaper.
Cunts.
OptimusWolf 04-04-2007, 05:35 PM I ****n forgot about the incidents last year where the game was called off cos the ref got hit with a coin, and trouble v middlesbrough
C*nts.

OptimusWolf 04-04-2007, 05:41 PM sounds lame doesn't it, but he was knocked down and needed a load of stitches.
This is a stadium that holds 70,000 people in what is supposedly a developed western country. There'll be clips of the latest stuff an youtube I guess.
MickyHatton 04-05-2007, 06:16 AM Its always happened OW, I was at Heysel in 85 and although what happened was extremely sad it was caused by the Juve fans, they attacked us Liverpool fans and at one point were firing flares into the crowd.
The police broke into our ranks and set about us, a small group of Liverpool fans then broke away and charged the Juve fans and the rest is history.
My point is, as always things could be handled so differently, the police over react which fires up the fans which then in turn causes more violence and its a vicious circle.
The fans should be kept well apart and guilty individuals should be immediately removed from the ground. What shouldn't happen is the police wade into the crowds and cause chaos and injury.
They are supposed to be stopping trouble not adding to it!
OptimusWolf 04-05-2007, 06:50 AM The man utd fans who were charging in last night get little sympathy from me, but the policing and general standards in mediterranean europe are just not good enough.
I mean, isn't the spotlight on them enough with match fixing, the murder of a policeman and the above mentioned incidents without once again attacking away fans?
I must confess the little I know about Heysel was that some liverpool 'fans' charged into the JUve section and the Juve fans retreated, causing a wall to crash on top of them. I think whilst i agree you're most probably right about the policing - the Liverpool 'fans' attack was a terrible thing to have happen, and British clubs needed to put their house in order as regards hooliganism.
But that was then and this is now. There was no doubt in my mind having seen the pictures live that the way the Italians handled last night was atrocious.
I think I've said in an earlier thread that sadly I avoid most Wolves away games now because of the general nature of the crowds. For the most part they're misguided people who feel the need to be part of a culture of aggression and have very little knowledge and appreciation of the beautiful game.
The Monk 04-05-2007, 08:29 AM The Italian police are corrupt maniacs. Some of the pictures from last night were extremely disturbing. Hitting people to the head with batons when they are lying on the ground is just not on and for the commisioner of the Rome police to say that it was justified is a joke. I wasn't around in the 70's but my dad says it was like this all the time, we should be proud how well controlled the majority of football matches are handled in this country these days.

This was a witch hunt fuelled by the overall behaviour of British fans leading up to that game, as I said I was there and as I also said the Juve fans instigated the attacks and chased us (I was 12!), my dad and uncle had to shield me from bottles and stones at one point whilst the Belgian Police looked on as they had no control.
During one of these attacks a group of about 50 Liverpool fans (although some of that group supposedly were Millwall and Chelsea fans) broke free and chased a large group of innocent Juve fans into a fenced and walled off corner, part of the stand and wall collapsed killing many. The police then waded in to the quiet end of the ground hitting both Juve and Liverpool supporters whilst people lay dieing! It was horrific and extremely sad. Unbelievably they played the match!
Your right that if any good came out of it, it was that Britain put its house in order and rightly so, but we were punished hard (sadly it doesn't bring back the dead though) and the Italians who continue to cause trouble, insight violence, make racist chants and offer poor if no protection from their security services still march on almost untouched?

You'd probably get more joy going to away games, at least you wouldn't have to see the mighty Saints thrash you. ;)
We must be your bogey team.

I was on a train with some pissed up saints fans after that match and they were well cunting happy with that result. They got kicked off the train at leamington spa though for causing trouble and singing and ****.
The Italians were supposed to review their security procedures and update them after there was violent clashes at a game (in sicily i think) quite recently, but reports i read said that the new procedures they were supposed to bring in were not being followed at all.

this is totally true mate fans of any english club were hung drawn and quartered in europe for simply waving our flags with passion against foreign fans, even if it was just banter.
the hooligan problem in the 80's cast us as some sort of lepers of society even though we addressed it and now we have probably the best stadium policing in europe if not the world.
i mean how many english policemen die and how many flares are set off or how much racism do you see week in week out in the premiership?
****ing none i tell ya!!
and why?
because we suffered the punishments!
if our police charged a bunch of italians they would be up on charges!! no doubt about it.
yet the italian f.a. defend their ****ty policing policy's to the end,
saying it was justified!!
wtf?
i sat and watched on tv as 96 of my fellow liverpool fans died at hillsborough because of the same stone age policing as the french, spanish and italians have now.
and i hope they can avert a tradgedy like that!
the fans are treated like ****ing scum!!
women and children there to support their team are beaten like prisoners of war!
it's not just wrong it's ****ing criminal and the bastards should be accountable!!
but they wont be because "WE ARE ALL ENGLISH HOOLIGANS"
****ING WANKERS!!!!!!
OptimusWolf 04-09-2007, 12:36 PM Yep, i agree with all the above, and its unlikely to change anytime soon. Many Spanish and Italian friends of mine simply will not acknoledge the racism and violence present in their game. On e in particular thinks that there was nothing wrong with the monkey chanting in Spain or Arragones comments about Henry.
I'm sure you guys have been to Spain, Italy, Greece on holidays and **** and had a good time but these places are ****ing backward. The sun also disagrees with my ginger heritage, as an extra problem.
