I did boxing for about 5 months, had 2 fights, won my first fight by TKO1 (which was great) then lost the second by decision (that's not really why I quit though, i just got bored). I have good power in both hands and decent speed but I find it hard to motivate myself to box again for long and have bad dietary habits. Any advice from you guys?

well all the answer is with you.

" If you say something it probably right" Henry Ford

that means if you say you could do something or not you are probably right and boxing is a sport that you need some daily motivation to go through the training.

Set-up a goal and go from there see if you want to competite in the golden gloves championship you gotta be prepared. because sometimes when the times comes you are already prepared and if your are thrown to good fighter all at once you already know what to do.

there was another saying by a great presidant of USA.
" I study and work hard because one the time comes I prepared." Abraham Linclon

The quto is not that acurat but all of the answer is within you and advice are there to show you something and guide you and you take it from there

hmmm well if your hearts not in it maybe you should give it away.
Without dedication and the thirst for victory you might get hurt in there.

Maybe you need to step back and look at why you started in the first place, what was it about boxing that got you excited enough to want to compete.
Try and harness that, but also look at why you are bored. Maybe look at how you can challenge yourself and how you can get to the next level.

You will find with most sports, well most things in life the drive to achieve comes from within not from anywhere else. All you need to do is find that drive again.
Good luck.

well i mean i know i wanna do it, but theres other things as well which distract me. the difficult part is overcoming those distractions. Also i feel lyk the time off i've taken all the other guys at the gym have improved and theyre better than me now, and stuff... and the gym in sparring guys always tell me to hit light etc which is frustrating, because if I go easy how can I learn?

Well you have to ask a question what do you really want before contiuning to answer because if you dont have a goal is like you going to a out somewhere with no destination that will end up wasting your time and other people's time. Do you think you really love boxing that you would go training boxing for long time?

Life is hard and expect that some people wont go easy on you so you have to work twice as hard to become better than them and that mentality you should get up hard and stronger and faster when ever you are down mentally and that what are learning from boxing

try taking a break for a week or two and i mean a total break from everything running and fitness and boxing then get back

once you start to question it, then your interest generally declines

you don't need us to tell you your future

very very simple. Do you want to continue boxing? answer that question, and then you've answered whether or not you should continue.

just give up
man why would you tell him that? the guy just needs a little motivation and a week or two off! dont give up this easy man! nothing just comes to you that easy, do you think boxers who have made it big had it easy? sure there was times when all other people in the gym were better than them and sure there was times when they felt unmotivated! do you think people like ali were just running around town all happy and rapping since day 1? hell no! theres been rumors that when ali lost a amatuer fight he would be punished when he came home. i dont know if thats true but thats just an example of theres rough times in life but if you can hold on for just another second something really good could come your way!:boxing:

how can someone else say whether or not you should continue?

If you can`t be bothered to eat correctly and/or train then you have already made the decision.

Why you getting annoyed if someone tells you to quit...you asked the question...not everyone is going to give you a pep talk...you need people to tell it how it really is...

you've got a point there. Ok, well I shouldn't have said **** off. I'm gonna eat and train right from here.
