The contender finally in England, unfortunately team UK were soundly beaten, Ross Minter involved in the best of the action sadly got stopped, Robin Reid on the come back trail won a scrappy fight.
One question is the contender series really worth it, if your talents arenít good enough to be discovered in the conventional way then they must be something wrong with you, I can understand Robin Ride taken part as it is his last throw of the dice and he has already achieved something that The Welsh wanker Joe Calzaghe couldnít get and thatís the WBC title, but for the rest its pretty lame. The fights maybe good to watch from a spectator aspect but I canít see a world class fighter emerging from the show.

unfortunately no promoter wants to risk a real prospect. in this case frank was just giving exposure to a few of his less popular fighters in the hope this would generate public interest and make him money in the future.

if all 8 fights were included it would have been 4-4. they only said the last 6 would count for tv purposes...does that mean they won't be showing the small or smith fights when the tv series starts?
