No matter who we pull for or argue about it was a great and fun year.
I am so sick of the media and people saying boxing is dead and on par with wrestling.
Greatest sport there is, and most entertaining.
What would you rather do, sit and watch rich privliged nerds hit little white balls

Or watch boring as hell baseball and basketball.

I guess you're not familiar with the De La Hoya rape allegations that surfaced earlier in his career either. I'm not defending Mayorga, but I'm not jumping on a 20-year old (legal in every country) hooker. Hookers have sex for a living. This one apparently wants paid better than her normal hourly rate.

To answer your actual question, though, it's been a good year for boxing. New stars have stepped up, there have been a handful of fight of the year candidates, name fighters are scheduling name fighters, which was not the norm just a few years back. Fighters seem to be inviting potential losses instead of running from them, realizing that the quality of your opponent impacts your legacy.

We weren't having these megafights as the new millennium came around. This has been a good year.

I must say yes. A lot of upsets created quite a stir in the sports and a we saw a lot of new prospects cropping up.

It was a wild year, I think overall it was good for the sport.

At least showing that he could do better on a rematch...in the 1st Tito was moving up in wght, now he is bigger, showed better chin and still has great pwr on both hands...still has a killer left hook and his straight right looks even better than b4... :cool:

overall a good year of boxing we saw end of an era and also so saw dawn of a new age.....

I take it as a personal insult for the two sport's to even be mentioned in the same sentence! My ex-father in law one day said "hey Tracy...wrasling (that's how the southern's pronounce it) is on" and I got pissed. I told him that boxing is REAL and wrestling is fake, scripted out bull****!! Then later that day he said something about me missing the "rest of the game"...SIGH, I had to explain to the man that boxing is not a game; it's one on one combat with no team, etc...
I only have so much patience!! :mad:

Although I love to shoot pool, any sport other than football and boxing are redundant and pointless (boring) to me. I dont watch pro. billards, cause then I would hate them for being better than me! (Which it's all geometry, anyway) :D

it was a great year!! we had great fights. i'll name just a few!! pacquiao-marquez, trinidad-mayorga, freitas-corrales, williams-tyson, and that is just a few!! also great ko-s of mayorga, freitas, jones, delahoya!! great year!! one of the best in a long ass time!!
