They gave him Chris Lytle (at UFC 68), and I think, honestly, it should have been me and Matt Hughes right now, instead of me and (Josh) Koscheck. Me and Dana talked about this, and he said he needs contenders. And, if me and Matt fight, there’s only going to be one contender, but I’m still going to work hard after this fight to call him out and say, ‘Hey, man, let’s do this; let’s make it happen.’ I’ve worked my way up and ever since I started in this fight game, I’ve wanted to fight Matt Hughes. I believe I can submit him. I believe I can stop him from taking me down and outbox and outmuscle him.”

Your right in that he should be focusing on his next opponent, though the good thing for him is i think he can fight off his back, but still Kos is a good wrestler, as you say, and could present problems. He shouldnt be looking past him.
That said, I definatly think diego would beat Hughes.

Liaison 03-31-2007, 05:42 PM While I agree he’d beat Hughes, I hardly think he’d totally annihilate him. Hughes is a crafty ****ing veteran and knows what needs to be done. He’s fought tougher competition in GSP, Penn, Sakurai, Doerksen and Trigg and come out on top against all of them.

**** Kos and his takedowns, kos aint got nothing but laying n praying. Diego shouldnt be fighting guys like koscheck, he wants matt hughes because he is already at the level. Koscheck is still at the bottom fighting *****'s that anyone of us can beat.

A fight with Hughes is almost 50/50 with a slight edge to Hughes in my opinion but if Sanchez steps in with GSP he will lose.
GSP is on another level from the other welterweights in the UFC. Sanchez and Hughes are the only ones that are close in my opinion but neither can or will beat him.

ya thats true he probably cant beat gsp, he's a canadian icon. Karo should fight gsp also, he is a natural in mma. Diego is gon **** kos up and i will laugh when kos finds some excuse for losing, he shouldnt be fighting diego with the guys he's been fighting. Awsome 2 of my fav fighters are fighthing on this ppv, gsp and diego, i dont follow anybody else...well maybe Wanderlei silva but its gonna be a nice ppv. If Sanchez where to lose to kos i would **** my pants in put it on youtube....seriously...cause i believe Diego wont lost to a fighter like koscheck.

GSP beat Karo in his first fight ever in the UFC.
I don't see Sanchez losing to Koscheck either. Sanchez has had by far the better competition and has looked great in almost every fight he's been in.

In theory there's really no way to argue with this post.
But I will say I don't know how sure I would be saying that Sanchez is at an automatic loss if he steps in with St. Pierre. I think, we really can't gauge that at this point because as stated Sanchez has looked impressive in virtually every single one of his MMA fights.
