i don't know **** about them but i'm picking it up tonight.the wife traded a 380 she had to her brother for a mossburg(i think) shotgun.the shotgun has bever been shot.we were over there and i was checking it out this weekend.i'm not sure how many kinds there are but this is not the one where it's double barrel and you load 1 shell into each side.it's a single barrell.he said it holds i think 6 shells and it's got the pump action where you **** it.
it's a pretty slick looking gun.
question is, should we have it registered?if we do, it has to go in the wife's name cause i can't own a gun or it's back to jail for me.
i don't know how big a deal it is to have it registered.we are not going to be hunting or shooting it at the range.it's just for me to put a hole in someone if they break into my house

I'm in the process of buying a gun too. I'm going to buy a used Glock and I'm not registering it. Just keep the bill of sale. Here if we buy a new gun you have to get a permit and that takes like a week and you can't have any violent history to get it.

With your admitted feelings of uncontrollable rage, this entire subject worries me.

How old is your son?

If you can avoid registering it I would, I do not think its the governments business if you own a gun

If you are only having it for security then don't register it.

How can you possibly say that? Why the defensive posture?

I never "hinted" at anything, so don't put words into my mouth. You stated you know nothing about guns and I was concerned with your mental state, nothing more.

I am a firm believer in teaching children how to use guns and respect them from a young age...I was going to suggest, if he was old enough, that the two of you take a class together, but I did not think he was that old.

I may be a *****, but I'd never insinuate that you would put your child in harms way.

If your gun is not registered and it gets stolen somehow and somebody is shot with it, they are going to trace it back to you, but If it is registered and it gets stolen you can report it stolen and clear yourself.....

why do you think it's defensive.she already don't like me and thinks i'm a ****ty person.i didn't mention my boy so she did not need to.it would be a valid question in different context.not in this case.i'm pretty sure with the way she feels about me she was trying to imply some ****.thats why defensive.

Read Above. Defensive you are!

mut, i am defensive and i apologised.sorry again lsg.
scoff at this reasoning if you will but i am getting the shotgun because of the little one.see, with a hand gun, he can shoot himself if he ever got a hold of it, loaded it, and so on

with the shotgun and the long barrell, he can not.if by some freak chance he did get a hold of it and load it, he could not shoot himself with it.maybe shoot a hole in my wall or tv or something, but not like a hand gun where he could look in the barrell you knw.
i figured this way, i would have pretection for the house and very littel risk of him shooting himself

That is one way of looking at it. Just make sure, in the hopefully small small chance he get his hands on it, he doesnt shoot you or the wife. I am sure you will take the necessary precautions so this will not happen.

like i said, he only comes over on the weekends and he is never in the house alone.we have a walk in closet with a shelf up high above the rack you know.
i already put 2 hooks in above it so i can hang the gun there.it will be empty and i will have the shells in one of our dresser drawers.thats pretty safe.i don't know what else to do.i don't want to put all kinds of locks and **** on it cause then i couldn't get to it fast enough to load if someone was in my house.

Anyway about the guns. The 380 for a mossburg is a good trade, I've only had one 380 worth owning and it was a Beretta, about a 600 dollar handgun, so as long as she didnt trade something like that for the mossberg, which is about a 200 dollar shotgun your fine. It holds six counting the one in the chamber. Is it a pistol grip, or a double pistol grip? The best gun I ever owned for home protection, was a double pistol grip mossberg, with a maglite attached, the barrel was 18 inches long, which is the shortest legal limit in my area, and the spread on it at a close range was great. The lower the gauge the more powerful, hence the more it kicks, if its not a pistol grip keep that in mind with shooting it the first time, you could get bruised, also if you want your wife, assuming she is small and gingerly like most women, you may want to look into a higher gauge for her to be able to shoot it multiple times. A 12 gauge for someone with my build is controlled rather easy even as a pistol grip if held properly. Any questions just ask, Ive owned and shot a wide variety of firearms.

Just dont keep the shells anywhere remotely close to the gun, I was educated at a young age about guns, shot my first one at six, I think its smarter, but also did spark some curiosity in me, but I am knowledgable enough about them that Ive not killed myself yet.

Cardinal rule:Treat every gun as if it was loaded. I watched my best friend die because he was irresponsible with a revolver.

about the grip, i have no idea bro.the 380 she paid 250 for new and her bro said the mossburg was the same thing.i think it is a 12 gauge.
the wife is tiny but knows all about the guns.she worked at a gun club for a couple years.she takes the 380 apart and oils it and **** like that.
i'll ask her about the grip.i don't think it was a pistol grip.the end looke like it was flat and i put it up against my shoulder in a mock way and it was flat against my shoulder if that helps.
the shells will be kept in a drawer and the gun will be hanging up high.i figure it is safer with the kid this way and i won't have to aim real well if someone is in the house.i'll just point and shoot and probably hit the person.
at the very least, i could club them to death with it cause it is heavy as hell then i could beucwheat them if you know what i'm saying

Gotcha, she still got a good trade even with the "stock" which is what you put up to your shoulder, keep it tight in there while shooting it too. The deal was good as well, I looked and they are now starting at 300 dollars for the mossberg 500 which is common enough to be more likely the one you have!

i'd put a pistol grip on that baby, they look so much sweeter like that to me.
