Okay, so many people realize that this guy is a marketing joke; basically, throw this mountain of a man in the ring, give him a gigantically padded record to create a buzz, add in the fact that he's Russian, and now there's hope for the heavyweight division...

I just wanted to open this thread to a little ranting. He was getting outpunched pretty severely by McCline prior to the knee blowout; he was definitely gifted from the judges against John Ruiz; how long can his luck hold out? Now he's gonna fight a guy who's only got 23 fights to his name that nobody has ever heard of. When will the commissions realize that this ogre masquerading as a boxer is going to break Marciano's record without having broken a sweat?!

Sorry, I can't find a single nugget of talen in this guy no matter how many videos I watch of him.

I will be so disappointed if he breaks Rocky's record. I wouldn't feel bad at all if he was fighting, and he fell and broke his arm and was never able to fight again.

Rest assured my friends, the boxing gods won't let Valuev break the sacred record. Larry Holmes was 48-0, going into the Spinks fight. He made the infamous statement "Marciano couldn't carry his jock strap".
The Boxing Gods exacted their vengeance, and Holmes lost. Valuev or as I like to call him "It" won't break the HW record.

Like Kid Achilles said, there have been more people that have broken Marciano's record, it's how you retire undefeated. It's a matter of retiring early for Valuev because im pretty sure he'll have some losses before his retirement.

Well he is next fighting Ruslan Chagaev mandatory challenger so he fights what he needs to, however, if he beats Chagaev he will next fight aginst Wlad so I gues there it will end for Nicky.... Peace

You dont get it do you? it doesnt matter if valuev has no talent . fact of the matter is, he can absorb blows, and can knock people out. these days, thats all that matters. also, id love to see marcianos record broken.

He's not so bad. he's going to be very difficult to beat for some of the bigger heavyweights, to be honest. And that includes Wlad

Valuev can beat any other heavyweight today except BOTH Klitschkos!

Well, he is underrated for sure. A guy his size that has a stiff long jab with good stamina and power, granite chin isn't that easy to beat. It's not like the Heavyweight Devision today is filled with superfast slick Ali-like fighters. Valuev is in the right era.

I wouldn't mind if he broke it if he fought the best fighters out there. If he had wins over Wlad, Peter, Maskaev, Briggs and people like that, then he would deserve to break the record. But he is instead feasting on the Ruiz's, the Donald's, and the Barrett's of the world. At least Marciano fought the best of his era to have the record. They weren't too good, but they were the best nontheless. If he gets it the way he is getting it right now, it would be a shame.:nonono:

But he doesn't have a real stiff jab. Have you seen it? He windmills his hands like an amateur and misses his target VERY often. How "tested" has his chin really been? I guess having almost 100 pounds on every opponent helps his ability to absorb blows to the body as well.

This Herman Munster can't possibly be passed off as "great," no matter who he beats from now until his 50th win. If he continues to beat the best and establishes some longevity at the top of the division, then it'll be more convincing.

Maybe they should just strap some gloves on The Big Show and throw him in the ring...

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People wouldn't care if Ali had done it, or Frazier had done it, or Holmes had done it, or Holyfield had done it, BECAUSE THOSE GUYS FOUGHT GOOD FIGHTERS. VALUEV IS A SIDESHOW FIGHTING TOMATO CANS

I really do not understand some people around here. Who has ever compared Valuev, or called him a real great? There's nothing to disprove here, everybody is aware of Valuev's situation.

can i just ask, if you were 6' 8" and 25 stone or whatever he may be (i have no interest in him to look it up really) and lived in a country where the economy is collapsing around you, then someone presented you with a way out by hitting a few people in the face from time to time, knowing you can get rich off the freakshow factor alone, are you telling me you wouldnt do exactly the same thing? i know i most deffinately would
