Gerry's defense was impressive, his offense is lacking. He can't expect to win a championship by mainly counterpunching. He was simply outworked by Ponce who barely hit Gerry cleanly but was too busy to give Penalosa any of the rounds that were in doubt. The disparity in the number of punches thrown between the two was just too w i d e :D


Fight was closer than the scorecards suggested IMO. It was hard to give Gerry some of the rounds due to his inactivity or Ponce's punch rate. Too bad Gerry doesn't carry rocks in his gloves...

I agree! Isang round lang ang kanyang nakuha. The other guy tried to KO him but no luck. Gerry was in good condition. Like you said he's just old.

Old or not you shouldnt win rounds for punching the air and your opponents arms and gloves. A scoring blow has to hit something else. Crack judges struck all night. I think they shared a rock with Jay Nady, what a dick.

If Gerry is, then he should have thrown more punches than Daniel did when it was clear that he was the stronger puncher and could take Daniel's punches.

For me Outclass ni Gerry si Ponce, problema lang kay Gerry walang killer instinct. Maraming beses nyang tinamaan si Ponce ng solid, ang kaso walang follow up. Si Ponce, suntok lang ng suntok kahit hindi tumatama, wala ngang porma sumuntok ang kumag. Masipag lang talagang sumutok kaya nakuha nya yung mga rounds. Pero sa galing Gerry pa rin ang lamang sa dalawa!

I agree with your observation. If PDL's blows did land, hard as they are, Gerry should be in the hospital now. But instead, PDL has the swollen eye, not Gerry, who suffred only a headbutt injury . A testimony to who landed the more telling and hence, scoring blows! I think the judges did just two things that night. One, count PDL's punches, whether they landed or not. Two, jerk off while the round girls showed their booty. LOL!

I think Gerry should fight at bantamweight. Rafael marquez just vacated his title and he can take a crack at it. I dont see anybody like PDL at this weight, so his chances should be greater. I don't think Gerry can still make superfly though.

That's what I have been talking about! The judges were just lazy. None of Ponce's punches went thru.

judges has a favoritism.....sometimes if dont like boxer...they favor the other who they like....even the punches cant pass thru his opponent....
so if you dont like this to happen knock them off....
