Have you seen much of the champions league this year ? and who do you tip to win it ?

I've seen too little. ESPN carries one game per matchday. Unfortunately it is 2:45pm at kickoff. Sometimes I can't leave work.

Let's look at it. Who is having a very good year? Manchester United, but they are not deep enough to win the double. Their biggest game is April (date?) for the league.

Roma? Honestly I have seen them (Fox carries an Italian game here and there) and I'm not scared of them.

Chelsea? Dissent in the ranks, no? I really do like Chelsea. Two years ago I thought they were the perfect team. But the wings are underused, Maka is past it maybe (Lamps too????), Ballack and Schev haven't fit, the defense hurting, they just might call on Oasis Lad there, scratch them

PSV? I don't know them but I won't believe it. They are quarterfinalists year in these days it seems.

Valencia. Primera Liga is carried here only I think by one of the Spanish-speaking channels. I can't dismiss them except by saying if they don't win handily in the first leg against an overconfident Reds side they will lose.

That leaves:
Liverpool
Milan
Munich

The latter two are stacked. Munich are solid defensively, have terrific strikers and a deep midfield. I've not been able to watch them this year but I know who they have and how they play. They're to watch out for.

But, let's pull for a rematch of 2005 in the final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its between

Man Utd
Chelsea
Valencia
Bayern Munich

Roma or PSV are good teams but not good enough to win. AC Milan are good but not good enough to beat Man Utd, Chelsea or Valencia. Obviously they have the team on paper to do so but i just dont fancy them this season. and Bayern Munich are an amazing team and VERY underrated.

I just shot over to the FOX website where Man U are being picked at 43% in the public poll.

But remember these are fat Yanks voting, who probably onlt know the premiership (Chelsea and Liverpool are next in the poll!).

Who do you pick, Oasis?

And who is the Brit media picking?

Last few years there has always been an identifiable favorite. not this year.

I...like you, have a feeling it will be the same Final as last year.

Liverpool have the guts and determination to go all the way and Milan, quite frankly have...Kaka! who for me can win any game for his side and is probably my player of the year.

Kaka is indeed wonderful (and a dish, no?). The gap between Ronaldinho and him is not so great.

He is a good looking lad, for sure and Kaka > Ronaldinho.

I doubt I'd put ronaldinho in my top 5 players of the season.

I cant wait to see him over the next 2-5 years. hes only 21 and has the potential to be the best player in the world in my eyes

I don't like the cunt but i wont deny his skills.

My top 5 of the year might go like this:

Kaka
christiano Ronaldo
Artur Boruc
Drogba
Steven Gerrard ( not immense but solid as usual )

I dont really rate Gerrard this season. he has been solid but i dont think he's been as impressive as he normally is, and your right. Drogba has been good this season. his consistancy in scoring is impressive.

Id say...

Ronaldo
Drogba
Deco
Ramos
Van Nistelrooy

But that many people have impressed me this season its hard to pick just five.

No Kaka ? i think he has been out of this world this season and I'd bet my house on him getting the player of the year award.

How many Milan matches do you get to watch? I rarely see them. As I said, FOX has an Italian game at least once every weekend, but it's never Milan (I suppose there are contractual issues).

Celtic will surprise everyone by getting past Barca, but will lose in the Quarter Finals.

I'm thinking Man Utd could go all the way and win it.

Man U, Inter, and Madrid all have a good shot

Barca are having problems and could drop to Celtic. But if Leo is in good form by the return leg he'll make it tough

Arsenal - Milan is hard to pick. I think over two matches Milan will crack Arsenal's defence.

Chelsea could sneak to the semi but no farther

If I have to pick right now, say Man United over Inter

Most of this thread I spent explaining how I didn't get to watch the top Italian sides. Things have changed this year. Serie A gets equal play with EPL, and they show the top matches every weekend

Kay and Laddie your both spot on this year I think, I would have to go with Inter or Man Utd as I've already said in another thread.

EPL by far. I've yet to get accustomed to the Italian lerague.

The EPL hit it's peak a few years ago. It's still the best in the world though.

I think Celtic might surprise Barca as well but they will need to win by a couple and keep a clean sheet on Wednesday night.

Aye, keeping a clean sheet is essential. If Barcelona score an away goal then it's all over for us.

Celtic have a chance of beating Barca in the first leg. Barca's defence is poor and Celtic have the tools to trouble them.

As for the potential winners, it's between Man Utd, Inter (if they finally have the balls to show up), Barca (if they sort out their defence) and Arsenal.

Gerrard has not been as good this season but the whole club is in bits.

Saying that if a poor season still yields 16 goals for Gerrard so far (in all comps) then its not that bad.

I pick Inter which obviously doesn't bode well for Liverpool in the next few weeks!
